Human Cloning is one of the top 10 advancements? When you talk about great advancements in science, you cannot divorce ethics and science. This is ridiculous.
If you think Clinton was anti-democratic then you must be posting from Cananda right now
You don't have to think that he is anti-democratic to support a search engine that is censored by the Chinese government. He is just pro-money and pro-self.
Don't get me wrong, I think that it's great that you guys do these things and have these things. I'm not hosing you for having these things. I just think that its not fair to talk about EA like it treats its employees like crap. You guys have alot of fun things provided that most other jobs DON'T offer. The fact is sometimes for high paying or highly desired jobs (I would love to be a game programmer, and I know there are alot of people like me out there) you have to work a little harder.
Those fields are used for mockups and to practice moves that they have to program into the games.
No way. These are uncoordinated nerds doing contests with a bunch of people standing around cheering. Their movements with the swords and stuff look totally unnatural. Its just another "tournament." They have tournaments like this alot, sometime soccer, sometimes basketball, etc...
By this time, it is not as simple as counting. The problem is that there are many ballots that are misused. Maybe provisional ballots wrongly cast, ballots with two votes for the same office, etc. That is what they want to review. The better word the recount would be to make new judgement calls. Should this vote count? What about this, it seems like candidate x is more filled out for this office than candidate y (since they are both filled in). Etc. So, more recounts beyond this point would hand the election over to lawyers. So whichever laywer gives the best arguments wins the election for his candidate. The recounts need to stop.
I work down the street from an EA building and I can't believe those lucky jerks. They have a mini soccer field and a basketball field next to their little building (which is always being used). I can see a gym inside the building. I often see them dressed up as knights doing sword battles. The only thing I have not yet seen is any work getting done. These guys have no right to complain. If they don't like it that much, I am willing to trade jobs with them.
Condi will replace him. This is no suprise, though. Powell has been talking about a one term job for a while. This isn't really too big of news, cabinet members very often only stay on for one term.
Man, I really hope you don't have kids. They're just kids, man. "Fun" is not socially constructed. Toys have existed in one form or another throughout history. If kids were too poor to afford any toys, then they sang (for example this). Or played some sort of game. Or played with a dog. Or just run around and chase each other. Kids need this early time in life to develop everyday skills that we take for granted, especially social skills. Even though games may not have the tangiable benefit that you are looking for, they do provide something useful for kids. The skill that they learn at this time through games is what allows them to provide the useful benefits for society they will use later as adults that you want them to produce as kids.
...how is this different from a ridiculous poll online that asks "who won the debate that ended 5 minutes ago" or the nickelodeon online web polls asking 12 year olds who they would vote for? I know I saw this on the dnc.org website once, was probably on the rnc site also, that told people to go out to as many online polls as possible to vote for Kerry. These online presidential polls are less reliable to the results from these.
Please. Did it ever occur to anyone that John Kerry might be a little bit busy, considering that there's one week to go before Election Day?
The general theme drawn by this website isn't that he makes alot of mistakes, it is that he makes alot of little lies and deceptions concerning Kerry's being down to earth. Kerry is not in touch with the average guy who watches sports, and this is what this website attempts to say, and it seems to provide quite a bit of evidence. John Kerry couldn't care less about the Red Sox, but he pretends he does.
Here's an idea: After the election, Malda deletes the entire Politics section from production, and burns any backup tape from a date that the Politics section was active. His editorial staff has already proven that they're juvenile half-wits. We didn't need a two-party pissing contest to reinforce it.
YES!! Can we get some more people to weigh in on this please. This really is a stupid section.
After all the average slashdot reader is a bit smarter and a bit better educated than the average American.
Why do you think that? I completely disagree. I think that the majority of slashdot posters/moderators are angst ridden 16-20 year olds. And given the title of your comment, I would assume you fall into this category.
drudge.com is the Drudge Retort. Not what you think. Also, the Washington Post and NYTimes have endorsed Kerry. Doesn't that make those "left-wing hack jobs?" But I don't get what you are questioning here. Are you saying it didn't happen?
We have some blogs (including johnkerry.com), ap story, etc. Some put a different spin on it (some always boo, or he was booed because of traffic in Boston during convention, etc.) But the fact is it happened. I would question the respectability/sanity of a newspaper that tries to cover up a candidate getting booed in the stadium of his own town. BTW, I have never heard the Washington Times be called anything other than respected.
These type of things are bad for two reasons: 1) They meddle with the elections. If a Kerry supporter sees this, it may discourage him to actually go and vote, because "awww... this scientific poll says that Kerry already lost, I don't even need to vote" 2) How can a poll really claim to be scientific when it gives 100% chance to any canditate for a state? Sure, its pretty safe to assume that Kerry will win CA, or Bush TX, but you really never know what could happen in a situation like this. Saying 100% percent means that there is no way that this could happen any other way under any conditions.
Everyone is disturbed by the fact that Bush lied. If he did, then we certainly have reason to be disturbed. But why would the answer be to elect Kerry? I am not a liar. However, sometimes, I am tempted to lie about big things. Looking over the football fans for truth site, there are many things that are so tiny and insignificant things that Kerry lies about:
- Knowing baseball scores.
- Being 30 yards from Buckner in '86.
- Running in the Boston Marathon. If someone has no problem lying about the dumbest, smallest, most insignificant things like that, how do you think that he will not lie when it comes to the big things. This man is as much a liar as Bush, if not more. If you want a demogogue, elect Kerry. If not, there are plenty of other good options out there.
He was booed when he appeared at a Red Sox games before the convention. I think they see through his "insincerity" when it comes to his Red Sox Fandom.
A better site for polling breakdowns is this one. It averages out all the polls to get a global view of what is going on. It also has and electoral map and electoral count breakdown, as well as polls for each state. They actually show you the data that they are basing their numbers on.
...this one. It's nominally anti-Kerry, but if this site really convinces you to vote for Bush, then your voting priveledges should be revoked. It's just a funny site.

How much did you pay to put your name in this ad?
Google: china government oppression
Accoona: china government oppression
hmm.... One result on the main page even mentioning Chinese government oppression in the results. I'll stick to google, thanks.

These ballots were mostly going overseas to military. A large majority of the military vote Republican, traditionally.
