This reminds me of a moment I was in some sort of philosophical conversation.
It was about the about how meaningless a moment can appear, cause most of it will go up in thin air unless you specifically remember it.
There was a plane flying overhead, and I pointed out that plane would stop to exist in our minds. I was certain the moment that by the time we'd meet up again the upcoming week, the moment would've been lost, never to be remembered again if I wouldn't have pointed out we wouldn't remember. The loss of past concience about that moment. Ofcourse there was protest, whereas she would've remember it for certain if it wasn't for me pointing it out.
Now, 10yrs later we still remember that moment exactly, and vividly. But I wouldn't be able to remember anything from a week before of after. (neither can she, my point exactly back then.)
Ahh, yeah. You don't like my views, so my "mind has been polluted". How typical.
So one is a moron when someone disagrees with your views?
I *WAS* at WTC on 9/11. I felt the impact...
Then you surely know how it feels to be "under attack". The very same thing the US is doing to civilians in Iraq. (and seems to be planning with 5 more countries in the future.) Read up on the bodycount of innocents overthere. Nothing can justify WTC, and it's a great loss. Doesn't mean innocents need to die as a result to avenge those deaths. Compared to the murders in the US's name, it's neglectable. A 1000/1 killratio is just shocking! (which totals even higher if you dig back in history records)
Don't get me wrong, those lives were lost and I feel for those which were left behind. But they didn't mean more or less then any other life.
I wasn't living in the US during Gulf war.
Just no 100% of Iraqies which got killed by US forces were at the WTC at any time. And not all were plotting evil masterplans to bring the US to its knees, now did they?
If you think "terrorists" are a real danger to you, I'm afraid your mind has been polluted.
Don't forget, that you are bound to international laws as a country. Terrorists, and not in the kind they've been hyped by the US gov ("everyone who disagrees with our views"), did not sign any treathy, or anything alike.
You slightly suggest that you can ignore certain laws as long the -imagined- treath is big enough. Let me tell you something, once you do that as a leader you're acting criminal and should be prosecuted.
Someone must have forgotten to tell about them to those wonderful, harmless, nice, innocent terrorists.
The US has done some serious damage in the Gulf, the kiddies from then have grown old... You're just reaping the fruits, my friend. Known that the kiddies from today will grow old as well.
So instead US forces enjoying to kill with their highly advanced weaponary with a 1000/1 killratio, you can now put people high on caffeïne on some buttons. I don't want to know what happends if such one "gets in the zone". You could hit numerous individuals to up your killratio, until someone proves you're cheating. ("oh dude" indeed, bastards.)
This is just wrong, it's sickening. However a clever in a sense; a robot cannot break silly laws like.. the treathy of geneve, can it?
I hope their new trackerfree bittorrent network will be faster it takes to download their program...

Each ISP has an abuse@ISP.com emailadress, where you can report malicious activity of a user.
If you, as a person, notice that a user of a certain ISP is using its subscription for illegal activies (like, if someone is probing your machines for days, constantly trying to get a virus through to your domain, spamming you, you just trace them back and include logs.), or any activity that might be against their userpolicy you can email then there to report said activities. And they will investigate the matter (at the very least you get an auto-reply, it has been more then once the case I've gotten a personal reply from some ISP's in Europe), and take appropriate action if needed. So it isn't really "telling a company to do something", but merely pointing out something which will be put under investigation.
I don't know what the case was with this guy, it seems he just has emails a whole lot of ISPs and some put the spammers' domain into their spamfilters?
and with this mechanism you have gamers all over the world 'playing the show.
On Belgian tv you have these "tv games" in dead idle time. You sms to a 4digit number, 1 Euro will be reducted and some action will happen on screen. (like a rocketguy will be fired to blow up a planet, or whatever game there's playing). It's fun, if you feel like paying 1 Euro for a 'keypress' or like to remotely play a game like that cause you're bored in the night. (there are SMS-chatrooms like that as well on the tv, or teletext) which are sortof popular.
Money bomb for the channel, but not my monnies. (there will be people who cannot contain themselves, specially teens and what not.)
Well, the RIAA has been putting fake files on P2P networks in hopes for the same result. (polluting the network, discouraging the "offender") Didn't really work, just gave them additional problems. People just migrated to other networks of systems which aren't polluted as much valid files or just cause the new protocol is an improvement(bittorrent). Others'll just keep on trying until they found a correct version.
Would polluting the webpages serving bittorrents, or setting up "copyright-bot-traps" discourage people who have vast amounts of financial resources and are determined millons of people owe them money?
This is fine with me unless you're forced to upgrade your graphicscard every x-months, 3D interfaces sound pretty cool -yet currently unnecessary. Each new windows version always has required more power, and wasted yet more power. (everyone always has accepted that, and will remain to do so.)
Just as long they don't make a 3D version out of Clippy following you everywhere, or the silly search dog in XP. (seriously, what's up with that?)
You just cannot *on default* go claiming a product is "an evil trojan that should be crushed".
I imagine Serv-U would file a lawsuit against MS for 'bad publicity' (that's what they do, they just stigmatise a product like that. The average user will think Serv-U was made by "some evil hackers, like they made netbus!". Don't get me started about some admins believing in such myths.)
The program *does* offer some really nice advanced features though.
Not having read the article yet, I do wonder what the scanner reports as spyware in order to get "twice as much results as Adaware" and "three times as much as Spybot".
While this "concept" might be new to alot of Americans, alot of Europeans, Asians and whoever have used this to aqcuire English and maybe another language.
For instance, every child in Belgium is accostumed to read subtitles with some cartoons. (lately it seems they started dubbing cartoons for the younger children though. I remember being 8 watching He-man or Ji-Joe with subs.)
Cause we don't "dub" (I personally find it really annoying in German dubbed movies, it just doesn't feel right.) And think about all the "imported" series, games, movies, and what not. They are all subtitled or even aren't (games and such). So teens overhere have a very good understanding about English (unless they are just into RAP and R&B music:P) cause they pick it up while being entertained.
My German knowledge mostly came from watching German childrens programs, and later German books or even comics as well.
I think it's super to be educated while playing, without ruining the fun of the game; Pick something up while you're entertaining yourself, it's not like you were going to pick up a book and study a language instead. But it seems supercool to go into a foreign country, and notice you actually understand some things and eventually will be able to communicate in a language not your own, as a result of playing a game you like which was going to be "dead time" anyhow.
They could expand this further, beyond just "language".
I can't believe the parent got modded "informative"...

Maybe a mecha wouldn't be efficient for war-fare, but it could for civil tasks like carrying heavy objects on a construction site, rescue missions where ALOT of strenght is needed but accessibility is limited. There are alot of situations where such machinery would be very usefull.
Why always with the killing? ^_^
General rule; first invent/creat/build, then get someone else to think up evil applications with said innoncent invention:P
I always thought Microsoft has offices in Europe as well. And sells on Europe markets as well. Isn't it so when you start trading in a market abroad you have to comply to the laws abroad? (You can't just walk in on a market and expect to be allowed to do things going against the highest legal power controlling such cause you were founded somewhere else.)
In your logic a kebab-seller, let say in the US or Europe, can cut off your hand when you steal one of his kebabs cause it is considered acceptable wherever he might be originated...
What about Debian, in the US you cannot use a certain encryption, you can in Europe. It's still the same OS!
I was aware of that. She was just being nice.. :P

Serv-U FTP Server is appearantly a "Trojan FTP", default action is to "quarantine" in MS's view.
Not having read the article yet, I do wonder what the scanner reports as spyware in order to get "twice as much results as Adaware" and "three times as much as Spybot".
I'm just sceptical about MS + Anti-Spyware mix.
That link is really interesting, thanks for that.

As is slashdotting on Christmass ;)
I couldn't agree more with you.
Well you can't justify a few millions on research for a "GIRL ROBOT" which if fully integrated with all sorts of pleasuring features.
You can however, justify it when you go for "humanoïde robots" and add funky features later.
You don't think those guys inventing the internet were actually building a "network to withstand a nuclear attack"? : P
