In China, QQ dominates. I read a statistics somewhere that said QQ has almost 90% of messaging market in China. The size of the Chinese market easily eclipses the major markets in other parts of the world.
I travel widely. If your luggage is randomly selected by US custom for inspection, they will force open your luggage if they can't open it using the default 0000 password. Good luck when it hits you. I got my luggage damage a few years ago and a letter stating Homeland Security is not liable for any damage. Now I never set password on my luggage. There is nothing expensive inside any way.
Well, many Taiwanese pop stars hold huge concert in China. I mean really huge - 5 digits. The tickets are cheap. They make up with volume. They don't make as much money on CD but it is still profitable. You also see more content bundled with the CD like karaoke video CD etc. In the end, consumer has more choice.
I agree. I work in a small company and we standardize on Win2K. It is stable enough and works. There is nothing compelling about XP and Vista upgrade. The best thing is there ain't' the annoying product activation.
The amount of estrogen like substance in soy product is too low to have any effect even if you eat nothing but soy products. Just check out China. It is the most populous nation and a Chinese consume more soy product than an average American. FYI, Asians has being eating soy products for millenniums.
You are right. I never upgrade my company from Win2K. Hell! I even have a few users on WinNT workstation. The few Windows NT4 servers will be virtualized soon and the rest are Linux and Solaris. Vista won't bother my company at all.
If Nokia uses Win CE, it cannot differentiate the Nokia 770 from the gazillion me-too products that looks the same. Morever, WinCE has higher hardware specification than the embedded Linux.
Nokia has enough engineering resources to push this device. If I am not wrong, the device was launched within a year of product conceptualization. I admire Nokia 'cos Nokia will never want to compete with all those cheesy no-brand company which will happily slap a WinCE with hardly any real engineering and sell it at a me-too price to undercut each other.
India population (1 billion) and its GDP is smaller than China (1.3 billion +). According to digitimes.com, there are at least 300 million cellular users in China. Having a cellular service is a good indication you are out of poverty but you are still not in middle-class. I don't think India has 50 million middle-class even counting the children and old folks who don't poccess cellular phone in a middle-class family.
HP DX5150 series officially supports SUSE Linux and is available with AMD chips. Very nice computer. I am standardizing on this model for my office. Dell is terrible. The Dell's are failing left and right and their entreprise support is not like it used to be.
I second you. Nokia designs it as a secondary Internet connecting device. It is not meant to replace your main computer. I got it so I can watch movie on the subway, do some reading and check the weather on my bed the moment I wake up. FYI,you may want to disable popup for the browser.
FYI, the Thinkpad before IBM sold it to Lenovo was already built by a Chinese ODM maker. Lenovo merely take over the brand, design and marketing. Lenovo will only mess up the thinkpad quality if they choose to cut cost by getting the ODM maker to use cheaper components.
Wow...this issue is getting scary and the list of CDs is very long. I am going to issue a warning to my office to stay away from Sony-BMG CD. I don't want some rootkit that install on the PCs and gain backdoor access to the company PCs. It's a big security risk.
Dell quality is sliding and since Dell don't do much R&D at all (Michael Dell, your partners' R&D don't count!), I am shifting my company desktop purchase to HP. HP at least plunges a % of its profits back into R&D. HP is a little more expensive than Dell but I prefer to support a company that really innovate and move the technology sector forward. Apple invests a lot in R&D as well and helps to introduce digital music to the masses. That's good for everybody. Look at Dell's product, for company this big, it has no internally developed technology at all. Supporting Dell means a dearth of innovation. Don't buy Dell!
Me and my girl are calling each other for free since we both use hardware SIP adapters from sipphone.com. I don't understand what's the fad about Vonage. Vonage is only worth it when you make a lot of SIP to PSTN call. If both parties have broadband, getting a SIP device on either side means you can call each other for free. No subscription at all.
HP sells Linux preloaded onto certain business class computers. You don't have to pay your MS tax this way. Plus those models run on AMD chips too and are much better value than the Dells.
FYI, "Sun" in Chinese has mulitple meanings. One of it means Grandson while the other is for the family name. When you use "Sun" in the name, it does not mean it is grandson or something like that.
"Sun" is the Han Yu Pin Yin version. The dialect version is spelt as "Soon".
Well, Google is the Internet.

We haven't figure out how to set the time on our VCR.

Yes. I do. I justify my employment and pay increment by using and contributing to OSS.

This is exactly how I feel! Bittorrent is swamping my life with too much movies and TV shows.

Yap! I didn't know "most of the world" comprises of only 26 countries that recognize Taiwan.
The next upgrade to iPod Nano is iPod Angstrom. :)

I am using the SIP adapter from www.sipphone.com. I call my girl in asia for free since she has an SIP adapter as well.
Sipphone is releasing the SIP softphone as well. It is called the Gizmo project.
Use SIP. It is an open protocol and it is available now.

Aztech from Singapore created it. The rest all slapped their brands onto it.
