I personally find the "clones current window" really annoying, as when I open a new window, its to do something new, and I don't want the effects of what I've recently done being brought across to this "new" window...
What happened was that he was only "authorised" to make "safe" purchases - buy stuff that was undervalued, buy low and sell at normal price. What he actually did was buy at normal price, and hope that the price would go up. What then happened was that he bought at normal price, but the price went down.
To compound the issue, he was playing with more money than he was allowed to. e.g. He was allowed to play with [currency of your choice]100,000, but he was actually playing with [currency]10,000,000.
TFA suggests that he had been promoted out of the "lowly lowly trader" position, but was still playing with those accounts (that he shouldn't have had access to).
The IT angle was that he was using "creative" processes within Excel to hide this - devs hardcoding admin passwords into the spreadsheets.
I think you're missing the point of the article, which is that if Windows had been installed on the computer, the poster would most likely have had his/her laptop fixed, but because Linux has been installed it voids the warranty.
Admittedly, it would then be down to whether the customer has abused the laptop or not...
Google for lshort.pdf , that should get you the doc.
I've used it numerous times for university assignments (CS course in Univ. of Southampton, UK).
Also have a look for bibtex, its a very nice document reference organiser used in conjunction with latex. It's a bit complex, but worth the effort imo.
You may want to look at the CellFactor demo on Ageia's website before you give up on what the PhysX can offer... (also have a look at the tech demos, they're 'rather nice' - flowing liquids & bending metal.)
HavokFX will use a 2nd graphics card. Afaik, it will use the whole card, i.e. no SLI / Crossfire.
Framerate is reduced partly because of the offload performance hit (send data / read data from pci bus) and the fact that the number of objects rendered tends to increase hugely. Look for the CellFactor demo somewhere (Google Video -> CellFactor).
Apparently this card can calculate enough physics objects to bring a current top of the range system to its knees... (i.e. Athlon FX60 with dual 7900 GTX512's)
And Ghost Recon:AW only uses the card for graphical sparkle, I wouldn't recommend judging the PhysX capability on it, wait for Unreal3 engined games (Gods of War / Unreal Tournament 2007) for a better indicator.
I think part of the reason there isn't much controversy in the UK is that GTA:SA was already given an 18 certificate (similar to AO - afaik) and the revelation that there was "sex" in it wouldn't have changed the classification anyway.
What I think should be considered more telling is that why GTA:SA (and probably a load of other games) didn't get an AO rating in the first place.
The U.S. isn't like Europe because the society was based upon Puritanical Christian settlers who believed that sex was sinful (over simplified I know), and that view has stuck. (my interpretation, please feel free to correct it)
And yes, Europe tends to have a much more laid back attitude to sex anyway...;)

The blind and/or deaf children comment wasn't meant to indicate that they did not have any sensory input, but the fact that they have never had a specific type of sensory input (sight / hearing) in the first place, and to attempt to equate this aspect to a computer based brain without any sensory input in the first place.
Agreed though that it would require moral considerations if a sensory input that had been provided was removed.
Suicide: through the computer figuring out how to turn itself off (and then "is the backup the same entity that it was before the system crash" (relating to issues with "backing up" human brains) ).
Is it sensory depravation (torture) if there were no sensors to begin with?
Is it therefore torture to give birth to a deaf / blind child?
I agree that providing a sensor input, then removing that sensor input would constitute sensory depravation though.
Who would be the murderer then if the system housing this computer based brain crashed?
Could it ever be considered suicide?
No we dont! (We use IP addresses...)
Roll for initiative... :D

What do you do when you CTRL-N?
I, however, have one with my reverse-phrenologist...
Now, where did I put my painkillers?...
Probably also makes you drive more cautiously, as in "if I'm in a crash, I'm gonna die! - don't crash!"

That's an end-user solution - something that the seller/eBay cannot control - which I think is what the article is about.
People who left-click an advert are navigated away from the seller's page which could result in a lost purchase.

Surely not!!!
(I know this is the UK patent office, but with Blair being Bush's lapdog and all...)
Come on! This is slashdot...
Whats the likelihood of there being sex in the first place?
