Firts let me say I'm a huge advocate of mozilla based browsers. In my opinion, they're the only group to get it RIGHT.
I've made it a requirement of friends and relatives that if they want me to look at their machine and fix them that they need to install and use firefox as their primary browser.
There is a problem with the whole thing though - many of them go back to IE because one site of another will not work due to IE dependancies. Of all the people I've converted, only a small percentage kept with it.
We've seen a big spike in FF/Moz usage over the last few months, however, if you'll excuse my pessamism, I think this will eventually drop off as people find one or two sites that don't function properly because they were designed only with IE in mind. A good example of this is my sister, who went back because her son couldn't play a couple of yahoo games which explicitly ask for IE.
I think this is the real reason they say Firefox is not a threat to IE - because despite the superiority of Firefox, most people don't care about the benefits of security. They just want page X to work properly, and when it only works properly in IE, they'll run back.
Except I'm not a Mac cultist. In fact, I don't own a Mac, or even like them. If all the Macs on this planet disappeared tomorrow, I probably wouldn't shed a tear. More likely, i'd throw a party to celebrate it.
However, some people do like them, and in fairness to them one should actually think about an article before posting it.
Except that it will run on any version of Windows (discounting 3.11, but nobody really uses that anymore anyway) and it will run on any flavour of OS based on the Linux kernel.
On the other hand, there are lots of people who still use MacOS so it can lead to a point of confusion.
It's not about being pedantic, it's about *clarity*.
If you're interested in running a distributed.net-like application with the chance to make some money using your CPU cycles to help find prime numbers, have a look at here. They give some good information about what prime numbers are, and what they're good for.
Firefox 1.0 is available now for Windows, Linux, and Mac
Why to people keep refering to the Mac like it's an operating system? Are people really that slow?
That line *should* read: Firefox 1.0 is available now for Windows, Linux, and OS X. That's right, there is more than one operating system for the Mac! "Mac" and "Mac OS X" are not interchangeable.
Why are we ever talking about this? It has already been patched.

...but the game didn't really HAVE a plot. It boils down to guy-with-gun-kills-a-bunch-of-evil-things. I have a feeling this should rank way down there with Alien Vs. Predator.
Only in China would someone take a large hunk of metal destroying their home as a sign of good luck. The rest of us would probably be thinking that some higher power hates us.
It should be noted that Mac-on-Linux still doesn't run on i386 hardware - so if your goal is to run OS X or some other OS made for PPC, most users will be out of luck.
People tend to forget that Google is a business, and that the primary motivation of any business that is not non-profit, is profit. Google is not the altrusitic entity that people make them out to be. They will do whatever they feel is needed to maintain a growing profit margin, and if that means agreeing with some government's censorship laws, they'll do it.
Just think of the royal mess that could follow if the chinese government decides that it should start messing with gmail too. A large database of well indexed mail could be an interesting, and quite damaging tool for them to continue their opression of the chinese people.
With all this hype about HD-based MP3 players, people may has forgotten to look at other options.
Not everything Sony produces is outright bad. I recently purchased a Sony D-NE300 CD based MP3 player for $99 CAD. I can easily store more music on a single CD (128Kbps) than i can listen to in an entire day. Not to mention, that with some high capacity NiMH batteries (I use 1600 mAh) I get about 50 hours of playtime out of it. I remember my last (fairly old) Sanyo walkman only went for about 6 hours before it sputtered out.
Given this, why bother with an iPod or similar device at all? Blank CDs are cheap, and if I burn 3 or 4 I have more than enough selection to keep me going for several days.
Regardless of whether or not math is a sport, it is a more important endeavor. I'm sorry if this sounds like trolling, but someone who runs really fast or jumps really high or is capable of putting little pieces of rubber in a net is not really too important to the great grand scheme of things.
Mathematicians on the other hand train for the capacity to contribute something back to the world they live in. We use things in our every day lives that can be directly attributed to advances in math.
On the other hand, very little, if anything, is given back to the world due to people competing in physical activities.
While I'm not a great fan of Macs in general, to say that one group holds some kind of superiority over the other is just plain silly. The only purpose for articles like this is to incite the age-old flamewars between Mac and PC users.

The point was though that I did understand it, and moved to try to make a correction for the benefit of others - I can't help it if you're a troll.

Windows can too so I fail to see the relevance of your point.
I think there's a far cry between the Mac & XP.
especially since one is an operating system and one isn't.
