Though I am reminded of a TV program that I once saw that illustrated a fact that I had not considered before.
1) Aid comes in form of Corn from US 2) Food from US is highly subsidized 3) No incentive for local farmers as the US basically puts them out of business.
This is of course assuming there is a currency and a economy running which hyper inflation hasn't totally destroyed, which may or may not be the case.
Not offering any solutions, just suggesting that our current aid structure has it's own set of problems and may lead to further dependency.
It also is a stupid weapon. I remember reading about it. Its fallout radius was less than its range. Which meant whatever soldiers were unlucky enough to have to fire the thing, and any in the vicinity would be exposed to a lot of Rads.
It was called a "Tactical" nuke, but I think in the very loosest meaning of that term.
United States of America, "on the other hand, is not running as a functional country in any sense of the word. The competence of the leadership is very much in question, and many of their past actions suggest a level of delusion that could potentially lead to very destructive behaviour."
There fixed that for you... That was under Bush of course. Obama remains to be seen.
This was a couple of years ago, but I remember that one of the better models out there were called Fontron Source, or Sparkle Power. These are not brand names but rather the folks that make the stuff in China I believe. Notice the silly names, these are generic as generic gets. Yet the 400W and 450W versions of these would beat the pants off anything that cost less than 100$. Of course you could buy the brand name version as well, it just cost more, and some company like Antec or whatever would slap a sticker on the side.
The one I selected for my last build was a 500W, but not because I needed or wanted 500W, but because it got such good reviews as a quality PSU.
I second that. I get a kick out of what I hear these days about PSUs... Retarded. People going out and buying 700, 800, 900, even 1000 watt systems, is basically a waste.
If you could see what I used to run on my old Dell machine which had a measly 230 watt PSU, I am talking like 6 HD, dual proc, dual optical, and enough USB crap to sink a ship.
The difference is between quality and crap (no idea if Dell is any good these days, likely not).
My last build I did a LOT of research on PSU, and believe me there is NOT a lot out there. There are a handful of gurus out there that know what they are talking about, I mean like that I could find from scourging the whole internet. However what information they had was spot on.
First the number they sick on the side of the box (900WATT!!!) is pretty much useless. Also brand names mean next to nothing. So good luck! lol. Basically there are only a few manufactures in China that build them ALL. They are then re-branded to whatever the buyer wants. Some manufactures make better PSU that others, some use higher end components, however it can be difficult to figure out which is which.
Efficiency is about twice as important as actually stated wattage (which is usually a lie anyway), and stability is about twice as important as efficiency. What this means is that when you computer goes from no load, to heavy load, and the PSU starts sucking power and shunting it to your components, how much does it fluctuate? You might be surprised to see how badly some of these oscillate up and down, and those dips can cause system failure and even damage components in severe cases.
Anyway thats as far as I want to go into it as it is a pretty complex thing, but there is a community out there though hard to find. I know I was pretty blown away by the truth about PSUs. Most of the companies mislead, and outright lie on their specifications it is pretty absurd.
Considering this comes from the International Journal of Clinical Practice it sounds awfully unscientific. Of course this could just be bad editing and a poor choice of headline.
What is Coke? It is causing it? What in Coke is causing it is a better question, and likely the answer is sugar. 9 x 40g = 360g a DAY in ONLY cola. That's a third of a kilo, not including sugar you get from other sources. Go look at what 1kg of sugar looks like in the supermarket, and try and eat it in 3 days! In which case, Cola isn't the problem, it is sugary drinks in which there are plenty.
I find usually very smart people do not understand this very simple logical fact and make grandiose statements. They very well may be right, however their argument is wrong. Climate Change is one of my favorite examples of this. Flame on! (Sorry I couldn't resist!)
Also think about Freakanomics.
Perhaps there is also a statistical correlation between the people that would freaking drink 9 cans of coke in a day and those that smoke 20+ cigerates a day, or the fact that those people are more predetermined to be obese which may be causing it, or be more likely to eat other unhealthy foods, of which anyone factor may be the cause of.
There are many possibilities and factors and we are talking about samples and statistics here in a study where these are not controlled environments.
No I haven't seen any news in the last 8 months...
Did McCain win the US election, build a time machine, travel to Russia and steal their titles?
'Cause that is what I figured he would do if he won the election. That or raise an army of zombie cadavers to take over the world (aka republican party).
1) Make Lobbying illegal, punishable by death, and Create a "Czar" for the "People".
2) ???
3) Profit

Dammit you beat me to it!
Too bad it doesn't exist.
Also good luck FINDING it after a billion years... "I know it is around here somewhere!"
In other news, my patented Pixie Dust and Ground Unicorn Horn method for data storage may be retrievable after about 1.5 trillion years.
Next story please.
What a bunch of jerks! Now I hate Japan now!
Just kidding!!! :)
Interesting stuff though. 1945 is pretty recent all things considered. Never really bothered to read up on my Korean history.
Perhaps when some time goes by, and everyone involved is dead and in the ground, people can move on and start being civil to each other.
Thinks about what it would take to code a web server in assembly.... /killself
OK that is one thing I don't quite get. They (Korea and Japan) seem to hate each other (or so I hear), but I don't quite get why.
Why do the hate each other so?
Then again if you are dealing with people that don't have a problem with that (terrorists) then I suppose it would be pretty effective.
I believe Bush called NK part of the Axis of Evil, but it is generally accepted that he is also slightly retarded.
It also is a stupid weapon. I remember reading about it. Its fallout radius was less than its range. Which meant whatever soldiers were unlucky enough to have to fire the thing, and any in the vicinity would be exposed to a lot of Rads.

I think the most likely scenario would be something like this:
USA: Bad NK! We are gonna invade! Booya!
China: If you do, we will demand you pay your debt to us.
USA: That would totally fsck our economy man!
China: So don't do it then.
USA: Lets get Iran! Booya!
Yup... Branding basically makes them expensive.

That's Awesome.
Apparently the folks up (far) north already figured this out...

Um could you dumb it down more, and perhaps use a car analogy as I still don't get it...
Replicators? Screw Replicators, give me transporters as I am very very lazy.

And if the Robot Bears start to fight the Robot Lions, and a few bets are made, where is the harm in that?
Though to be fair to the robots this already happens with humans as well.
I would bet half the time some guy in a jet reads a Friend-or-Foe HUD that labels something FOE, and he presses a red button.
If that designation was incorrect, that Friend is just as dead either way.
Might as well let robots do it, at least they won't feel bad and have complexes after that.

It will still look like a GLOSSY WHITE brick tied to your face but it will be from Apple so it will be cool.
There fix that for you.
Change the word table from:
"Bomb", "Terrorist", etc...
to
"Penis", "Pen1s", etc...
then
Give Chuck Norris a call.
Agreed.
I once went to college where the money I spent on Textbooks (1250$) was actually higher than my Tuition (900$).
Something is very wrong with that.
