Well I didn't even know there WAS a Cult TV repository... never seen it advertised on BBC television programming or when looking through some BBC websites. I'm not surprised they've used the "reduction in public value" spiel because if I'm a typical member of the public, no-one would have known about this site. Sigh.
Did anyone else notice the timing co-incidence here?
From Indymedia.com: "The UK Indymedia site will be facilitating independent coverage of the actions and events. - G8 summit is running 6th-8th July.
Now I don't want to sound paranoid or suggest a conspiracy, but come on, the timing of this seizure is extraordinary. And there's about 0.00% chance of getting the server back before G8.
Like Colin says, the tzero has been around for a while and accelerates faster than a Ferrari. The video of this being demonstrated is on their website.
They won't be getting any of that tax profit for themselves, and no-one's going to be buying ipods in belgium anyway with added tax, they'll just grab them while on holiday or have discreet mail ordered parcels dodging through customs.
As highlighted by Charlie over at the Inquirer, many hardware site reviewers receive certain 'incentives' from hardware manufacturers to NOT publicise these issues.
a) I haven't been experienced enough to do them (job agencies not reading my CV/Resume properly and comparing against job description
b) The job is not something I *like* doing. For example, I have skills in Novadigm Radia, but it is such a fiddly afair I just do not like working with it.
c) the job mentioned does not have a reasonable enumeration attached to it, and I won't be able to pay off my debts doing it.
If you're interested in checking out Everquest 2, the November LAN Party in Newbury from Multiplay (12-15 Nov) will have an area dedicated to showing off the game from Sony.
(Halo 2 multiplayer will also be there, shameless plug)
Two common meanings when people talk about using nanotechnology.
1. Using "nano" materials in construction - the more common meaning when people talk about nanotechnology, is when materials manufactured on the small scale give interesting effects and properties used to make a product better in some form
2. Construction on the atomic scale - this is the (in my opinion) real killer-app of technology, where products, materials, literally anything... is put together atom-by-atom by a process - whether it be tiny machines with gripper arms, or a use of biotechnology to connect atoms together - using plain, simple, raw materials. Think carbon, oxygen, hydrogen rather than wood, steel, concrete.
It's the number 2 usage of nanotechnology that I'm waiting for. If it becomes possible to construct a motor vehicle using the atom-by-atom build process, you can build cars, trucks, whatever for minimal costs. It will of course, be interesting to see how the companies will handle the logistics and pricing strategies...
How was this off-topic! The guy wants to pre-order a 'sleeping room' so he can sleep! Clearly the chap doesn't sleep well.. I know I don't.. and I'd love to have one of these room-things to help me get a good nights sleep to face/users the next day!
As a Brit, I had a very normal childhood. I went to generic schools until college time - 18 years of age - at which point I dropped out from an I.T. course due to sheer boredom.
I've done menial jobs which include (very) basic web design, first and second line support roles.
I type faster than anyone else I know, averaging around 110 words/minute and peaking at around 126 when absolutely whoring someone at Typing of the Dead.
I like computers, I like what can be done with them, but I have never gotten into programming. I am not hugely skilled in social behaviour, but have firmly decided to leave low paid, low skilled jobs behind and concentrate on the contract market in the UK, as right now it has several good opportunities.
I do not believe I will become famous in the world of I.T. as I am not a PR master, nor a risk taker. I will probably remain Behind The Scenes but earning enough to have a good life. At least, this is what I hope.
I've found myself to be almost unique in terms of ability with I.T. systems. I only know a handful of people who can navigate around an operating system as quickly and efficiently as myself.
Personally I did not like my education. It was very boring, time consuming and almost painful. Yet I do like learning. Right now, I wish I were at a highly rated college learning something fascinating like Quantum Physics, something in which I could really use my brain to try and help out in some way.
I don't appear to have much of an imagination, but every now and then I have a lovely waking dream where everything seems fantastic, but then I am presented with the grim reality of things, where the person with the loudest mouth wins out.
Also, I would have posted this under my slashdot account, but forgot my password. One of those absent-minded-professor moments, perhaps!
I'm waiting for the day when I can do just about anything I need (games, chat, email, word processor, video, music) on a handset with more power than a P4 desktop.
Still not convinced they will ever make a good keyboard-replacement device though.
Too many people not caring about the kinds of car they drive, not caring about the environment, not caring ONE LITTLE BIT as long as they are literally smothered in comfort and leather, and to hell with the fuel economy!
Unfortunately anyone against this point of view has not been vocal enough. What with the internet, you'd have thought groups of anti-SUV culture could have gotten together, lobbied against the motor companies harder than has currently been. So now we have rising gas prices, oil reserves continuing to deplete (and push gas prices up) and we have what to show for it? A couple of hybrid cars on the market. That's it? That's pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. Thanks to all the big corporations out there who are going to run my later life because they only cared about their own pockets.
Why bother telling people they can't talk about the book? We all know it's Dumbledore that dies anyway, it was 'revealed' ages ago.
Server timing out.

Come on, the lead heroine doesn't even wear sexy clothing. Why even bother unless the loins are stirred.

why don't you R.T.F.A. before making your useless, "funny" posts.
Like Colin says, the tzero has been around for a while and accelerates faster than a Ferrari. The video of this being demonstrated is on their website.
MPAA you silly people, you don't need to sue us, we're paying "piracy" tax on CDR media. It's perfectly acceptable for us to pirate your films now.
umm, why?

Come on timmy, get some skills man
Wow, considering how many pro-bittorrent people we have on Slashdot, it's really quite depressing to see so few seeds on the torrents.
:(
Come on guys, share out
Remember the Honda advert? We think ours is better.
I hope it's not just me that disagrees with that.
I agree. I go to the gym 3 times a week, and now I have to buy new clothes! Sucks!

Man you guys slashdotted the server.
Top500.org are gonna need to rent time on the BlueGene just to host their site now.

And as luck would have it, I posted the above 'anonymous' comment under my own userID.
Good example of irony, kids! The above-average intelligence guy not actually being able to post properly on a simple form-based website. D'oh.
