only a fool would actually want to own and maintain his own computer
I guess I'm a fool. IT priests have been trying for decades to take personal computers away from employees. And they're still trying, but now they're trying to do it over the Internet.
More power to Microsoft! Remove Windows from Korea and let them suffer. Damn tired of Microsoft bashing. The nix and communistic open source crowd wouldn't even be here if it weren't for Microsoft.
Before I waste any more of my time trying to find out what the hell a Broadcast Flag is by reading a ton of messages here, WILL SOMEONE PUT THE DEFINITION IN THE HEADING OF THIS THREAD???
Perchance it is a flag with one star or maybe 50, or maybe a skull and crossbones, a picture of a megaphone or my friend's mouth...come on, give me a hint.
The idea of using the Internet as an operating system for a computer reminds me of the Dilbert cartoon where the pointy headed boss asks Dilbert to combine their accounting system with their email system.
They can't be serious can they?
I assumed it was an acronym because it has GREAT BIG LETTERS that apparently don't form a word. In other words, it looks like an acronym. Enough of this...I just wish writers would not assume that every reader is familiar with their jargon.
I'm not bitching about ONLY this one occurance of what "appears" to be an acronym. I took this opportunity to criticize all such usage in the blurbs to Slashdot's topics. (If you don't know what DS means, how do you know it's not an acronym? Use your mind, son.)
What's the difference between a Web log and the oped page of your local newspaper? An editorial page is not news; it's opinion. Same with Web logs...just opinion. It has nothing to do with journalism (i.e., the reporting of events).
(By the way, I value my opinions more than yours.)
I have no job. I have no health insurance. I almost died. I owe over $300,000 in medical bills and my estate is worth about $70,000. Is a call from a bill collector going to do any good?
Is it reasonable to WhoIs a spammer, get an email address, and then send the spammer his own spam for a couple of thousand times?
If we all did this would it disrupt the spammer's use of his email address?

So tell me: How can they determine from a skull that there was a scar above any eye?

Why, hang 'em by the ____ and then a hour later start a fire under them.
Do this to everyone who has the attitude of making the Internet a headache rather than the pleasure it could be.
What's the best way to filthify a new computer? Give it access to the Internet.
(New word, filthify. To cause to become filthy.)

Yes, it is and I offer as evidence what apparently no one (please, people, not NOONE) in this forum has noticed:
"I seen him do it and I have saw him do it many times." (I actually heard that by a person being interviewed on TV.)
"...for he and I". (Yechh. Spoken by several suppposedly intellegent and educated speakers.)
"I have did it." (Heard on TV.)
"He don't...", "She don't...", etc. (By nearly everybody all of the time.)
"To try and..." (Usually not what the speaker means.)
"I walked two mile." and "It was going 50 mile an hour." (What's happened to the plural form of words?)
And the newest:
"Emails" (Why don't people use the word "email" the way they use the word "mail"?) (Can't we coin a new word to use with "email"...that is "eletter"?)

You know what is means because you know what it means. The rest of us have other topics and subjects on our minds.
What is a DS???!!
I hate blurbs that us acronums and then just assume that everybody knows what it means. Come one, people, use some common sense.
(All upper case intended.)

And a job well done.
Good riddance.
