how does one hide behind "the 'we're a comedy show" statement' when one is in fact, host of a comedy show? are you accusing jon stewart of doing his job?
mayb the corporate record label oligopoly wants to ensure that on-line music distribution fails. attack apple as a monopoly (?) and snipe every other service one by one..
then the MPAA would allow a culture of total lawlessnes to persist. they need to take these ridiculous, insubstantive, unnecessarily harsh actions in order to maintain the system and culture of intellectual property.
michael parenti has a bit about police stopping bank robberies: in most cases the cost of the police stopping the bank robbery is greater than the money that would be stolen, but if the police didn't try to stop every single robbery "it would jeopardize the entire banking system."

today we're going to learn about something called factor mobility. when a factor of production such as labor can move freely across borders, it is as if there is one large international labor force, such as for software developers. now, while the marginal productivity of labor may differ between american and indian workers (the amount of code they can write per hour), the wage rate differential between american and indian workers may be greater than the marginal productivity of labor. hence, until the wage rate catches up to the marginal productivity of labor, oursourcing will continue.
