I think I read somewhere that the rovers accomplished in six years what an actual human geologists (or areologist in this case) could do in an afternoon. Robots are great, but they are very slow.
I had a similar situation a few month ago. I read an article on wikipedia about a TV show. At the end of the article I added Hulu links to the series. They were removed the same day. No one explained to me why it is a bad idea to include links to the actual show in an article about that show.
The web is not the OS. The web is...the web. I do NOT want everything to be a goddamn web app. Web apps work very well for certain applications, and Google has shown that they can push the limits with dynamic content, but that does not mean the web application is an appropriate model for every damned application.
