Yes, I got that. What I mean is, when the window for the selection comes up, will one of them already be selected? Will one say (recommended)? Or will they both be unselected by default to actually force a user to choose before blindly hitting "Next", "Next", "Next".
That's not what this is about. Its not about what is porn and what's not porn, nor it is about what's art and what's not. Its about the existence of a certain TLD.
If you want to go down that path and start talking about "whats porn and whats not" (sic), then creating this TLD could only limit your rights.
This has NOTHING to do with freedom of speech. Nothing at all. How is not allowing an XXX TLD a limitation of your freedom of speech? You can get your pr0n at a.com or at a.xxx. No limitation there.
Overall I disagree with the Bush administration on this one. But on the other hand, having.xxx TLDs might result in lawsuits and such against sites that have porn on a.com. (ie. sites that have a porn section or something, but aren't dedicated to it)
Anyway, back to the amendment thing, this is more along the lines of the 9th amendment, not the first.
If it gets faster, I'll use it. I'd love to use the Google homepage, but when opening the browser it always opens the page logged out and I have to refresh to view it logged in.
Err.. network.IDN_show_punycode is a pref added in this version. So its not that the simply changed the default, they added a pref for those who wish to not use punycode.
It has already been acknowledged that Yahoo! and Hotmail had them, this was merely an announcement that Google has one too. Is there a problem with this?
The thing is, this was a really old news post. I'm amazed this got posted. It was on MozillaZine quite a while ago, when Gmail accounts were worth a lot.
Where are you getting this? Firefox is 4.7 MB (actually with the latest nightlies, there was yet another size decease to 4.4 MB) and Opera is 3.4 MB. Firefox is twice the size? Hardly.
The 3% speed incrase was just the result of one speed fix. There were also many other speed fixes/optimizations that took place, even though they only reported on one.
Yes it seems like many people are having similar problems on update.mozilla.org. I too had a somewhat similar problem that has left the theme Noia 2.0 (eXtreme) in a state of constant installing or something, because I cannot switch to it and I cannot remove it, even after rebooting the browser. Urghf
Looking at the site again, it looks like the last update for Qute was the same date as you posted this. Perhaps there was a theme update before you posted and after I installed a working version on 0.8.
Yes, I'm not yet using a nightly build. My UA string is identical:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8
I also just noticed that the about box image is missing. Other than that and the weirdness in the Themes panel of the Options dialog, everything works flawlessly.
It works just fine for me in 0.8. I'm using it on 0.8 on two different computers here. The theme manager looks a little weird because there's no preview image and the entry doesn't really show up (even though it can still be selected), but the icons and the rest of the theme work just fine.
The old theme, Qute, is now available from Arvid Axelsson's site. You can also install it in Firefox 0.8, which by default runs a version of Qute v1, whereas the version that was initially going to go into Firefox 0.9 was Qute v2.
I'm afraid to install it. Is it worth it? It looks like it's loaded with the typical Yahoo! superflous-ware.

Of the two, which is the default selection?

It is compatible, you just have to refresh. It's one of those weird Gecko bugs that's gone after a refresh. Meh.
The thing is, this was a really old news post. I'm amazed this got posted. It was on MozillaZine quite a while ago, when Gmail accounts were worth a lot.
I had made this post, but that's probably not about what you're talking.

The last Phoenix was 0.5, not 0.6. The 0.6 release was under the Firebird name as well.
The only problem I can see with not uninstalling first is that you will have an entry for Firefox 0.8 and in your Add/Remove Programs list.
The Bigger Picture is a nice concise yet detailed list of things changed in this version.

This can be fixed in about:config.
Change general.useragent.vendorSub to 0.9.

And here is a complete screenshot of the new theme. I think this is a huge step backwards.
