    myself and, probably, virtually all of humanity are lazy, selfish, self-absorbed
    and arrogantly convinced that they know what is right for everyone... given the leisure to do so.

    one problem though with us Americans of late, though... nobody does anything. the vast majority of society was indoctrinated to
    do so (nothing). after the hippies sold themselves out and went to work and the government learned what all from Nixon, that last rebellious bubble was, apparently, popped.

    Thanks to decades of "stop smoking" campaigns, the two are permanently linked.
    Any deviation from that notion, more likely than not, will point you out as an addict.

    The database is incidental. They bought a substantial source of ad revenue from within their target market (exploitation of WoW player resources for profit). The shitcanning and traffic redirecting will come shortly after WoW populations begin to significantly decline.

    The reality of this that I am a poor man. I do not have the financial resources to establish an rs232 link with the office, so... I use Gnutella.
    It's free and it enables me to listen to music that I have paid to have the right to listen to.

    I do not solicit, inform or encourage others to use Gnutella as a tool to steal these files from me... Perhaps they're not stealing the files either, though. Perhaps they're doing the same, precise, thing that I am doing... listening to
    music that they, themselves, own. Who am I to judge? I'm just a hapless consumer. If they can find me, let them sue me... I've already paid.

    Do you sincerely believe that "the majority of the public does NOT suport your position" is an accurate statement? I don't recall voting on a proposition for the DMCA, the Patriot Act... Neither do you.

    It's called a protest. Be it individual or en masse, protests are currently one of the few tools "the majority of the public" has to use in voicing their discontent with existing laws, policies and actions of our government.

    So, I ask you: If we DIDN'T defy the laws we didn't like, it wouldn't be much of a civilization, would it?

    i don't mean to over-simplify this notion, but:

    has anyone yet gone back to the linux 2.3 kernel and re-engineered the changes made between 2.3 and 2.4/2.5 with hand written, clearly original, code? regardless of who wins in this whole IP thing, i'm pretty sure most folks would be keen on knowing that they've done their part to help SCO go fuck themselves. just one teeny-weeny kernel update and... bye-bye IP story, hello chapter11 story.
