    Because the Nokia N900 and other Maemo/MeeGo phones weren't sincerely marketed in Slashdot's home country. When N900 was still in production, none of the carriers nor Best Buy had ever heard of it.

    And because Windows Phone 7, Windows Phone 8.1, and Windows 10 Mobile appear to have failed to gain a substantial user base.

    Any chromebook that is updateable can have its OS replaced with Andromeda.

    If the update isn't official, the user will have to enable developer mode to install it. And once the device is in developer mode, its firmware will complain to the effect "OS verification is off; please press Space then Enter to wipe this device and reinstall stock Chrome OS" every time it's turned on.

    Does "Python, PHP, SQL, C, and MOS 6502 assembly language" look good on a generalist resume? For example, I've used Python to make data conversion tools for games on 6502-based retro platforms.

    I thought "owner of copyright" was defined in the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (1886), to which all WTO members are a party.

    A party to the Berne Convention is required to give the author of a work originating in a different country the same exclusive rights that it gives to authors in the same country.

    One popular source for such ebooks is Project Gutenberg.

    But there is one drawback of relying on these old books: You'll build up internalized biases based on what people thought prior to 1923. This is because of three-generation copyright.

    Not sure what you mean by "not often used", but OSNews cites the Oxford English Dictionary in tracing the terms "app" and "killer app" back to the 1980s. An early (1985) Object Pascal framework for Macintosh Toolbox applications was called MacApp. Ashton-Tate's Framework II office suite likewise referred to bundled applications as "apps" to save space in the menu.

    Finder has always referred to executables as "applications". (Source: any screenshot of Finder going back to 0.97) This is true in both the user interface and the four-character file type code used in classic Mac OS to identify each file's content type. The file type code for executables is APPL, short for "application".

    Do you also require a citation that the use of "app" as short for "application" predates July 2008 when iPhone OS 2 was released?

    Executables for macOS have been called "apps" since System 1 on the 128K Macintosh desktop computer.

    That doesn't work reliably because of how gerrymandered the presidential electoral districts (i.e. the States) are. See the 2016 Presidential election.

    There is nothing in the Constitution that says there's a 'border search exception' to the 4th amendment

    The Fourth Amendment bans only "unreasonable searches and seizures". The exception considers searches at the border to be "reasonable".

    Let's say a game's publisher is distributing it without charge but has a good reason to keep it proprietary. Now why must it be distributed through specifically Steam? Not even Steam Machines are locked down to run only executables from Steam.

    But enforcing said laws is the executive's job, within the budget allotted by Congress.

    Last I checked, Amazon didn't allow sellers to list used products in a lot of categories, such as used toys. (source) This leaves eBay for toy collectors.

    If your game is available without charge, why can't it be distributed as an MSI installer on your website?
