I learned C first, specifically the UNIX filter style of programming and it honestly made learning Java a PITA. I had the worst time ever grasping OOP. Even worse though we had a professor who sucked and by the end of our first semester we couldn't even program a hello world application. Luckily the prof after that moved us over to C++ and it all started making sense again. I still dabble with Java, and I rather enjoy it now that I finally got myself to realize how OOP works. C is still a great starting point if you never intend to dabble outside of procedural programming though.
That's true - however if they start using this sort of authentication for multiplayer I can only imagine that cracked servers are going to spring up across the tubes. Just like they did for every MMORPG in existance, except the software to replicate a FPS server is most likely a whole lot simpler to reverse engineer.
No flame here, I actually agree with you. People forget that Lincoln was a lawyer - someone whose entire trade is making himself look good to sway opinions and win a jury. People also forget that the entire emancipation proclamation was an ultimatum, NOT a law that said 'the slaves go free.' If the other states had said, "hey, the slaves go free if we don't come back." and returned then we'd still be calling our negroid friends farm equipment. The real causes of the war were financial, and state rights.
However, not everyone has an internet connection. For those who do have an internet connection, blocking it from being accessed is just a short hosts file edit away. From there, a single crack and your game is playable single player. It also requires all servers to be hosted by the game maker and their licensees because otherwise the server software will be cracked within two hours of it being released to the public (that's actually assuming the crackers are lazy). This is highly unlikely to work.
Except, of course, when Einstein realized that the orbit of Mercury could be used as a proof for relativity. Don't observers claim that he screamed and had heart palpitations?
The thing is the precedent for this was buying up assets that had actual value. The assets the government is buying up are all but worthless. That's why they're called "poison assets." They have nowhere to go but down. That is why its a bailout - their assets were going to destroy their companies. We bought them, and now the companies have been bailed out. That's why we're calling it a bailout. Because that's what it is. We cover their asses just like we covered the flight industry after 9/11. Some capitalism that is.
I concur, checks and balances are pointless if the checkers/balancers are in cahoots. However I'd much rather see a moderately left leaning court compared to a steeply right leaning court. Unless, of course, you want the scopes monkey trial overturned, and really dislike the bill of rights.
Nah, but the combination of an already right leaning supreme court, 3 justices on the verge of retirement, and McCain being a year or two below the average male life expectancy does make sense. Especially when you think about who would be president if his ticker decides to stop ticking. Batshit crazy Sarah Palin appointing batshit crazy justices is a pretty terrifying concept. McCain is slightly less scary. Beyond that I hate both candidates and would be voting 3rd party.
Ultimately my point in the previous post was that calling Obama socialist is quite hypocritical. I was trying to keep it nonpartisan.
After browsing through the constitution, I don't see anything guaranteeing you from being identified with your vote. Sorry. Maybe my cursory glance missed it?
I'm actually not sure. The polling place we were at this morning had maybe 3 people working there. One was guiding people in and out of the poll booths, one was checking IDs, and one was having people sign in the register. Probably had 4 booths total as well. I think there were a couple bottlenecks. At least everyone was in good spirits this morning:)
Obama only seems socialist if you ignore the 700 billion dollar bailout we handed to businesses - easily the largest act of socialism ever in US history. Oh, it was penned by republicans, too.
Seriously, suing LBP because people choose to create something replicating another game is asinine. Firstoff, if people want to play the *real* super mario brothers, they'll find a way to play the real thing (on NES, Wii, rom, whatever). If you need a fix that bad, you'll get the real thing. Secondly, LBP gives people a toolset to make things with. Just like a programming language. Or musical instruments. What people choose to do with them from that point on is up to them. Are you going to start suing art schools because they could potentially train art counterfitters? Or Gibson guitars because some teenager tries to cover a Metallica song with his garage band?
As of this morning at 6:50 am there was a line of 2-300 people at our polling place. It makes me happy to see the high turnout, even at that time of day. Now bring on the free ben and jerrys, krispy kremes, and starbucks!
I feel the same, and honestly I laud google for it. Information is meant to be free, and they're taking the hit so the rest of us don't have to. They pay out and provide it to the rest of us, we give them ad revenue which goes to them and the authors. Everyone is happy.
Most likely they purchased it through a privately held company because companies have lessened license restrictions for purchasing any class of weapon (ie, if you want to own an RPG legally, just start a corporation and you can buy whatever you want). I'm not sure if licensure is necessary for military aircraft (even decommissioned) but who knows, maybe that's the reason? Plus if they'd bought it through google maybe they'd be concerned about a shareholder backlash? These are just guesses btw, but its what I would surmise.
blunt. correct. Talk to a lawyer, they know your rights better than we do.

...you can hear the heads of a million fanboys going poof!

Oh well...
Agreed. It was a toss up between this and the new toshiba laptop with 3 video cards (two running in SLI). Guess toshiba wins.
oooh, wicked burn. :)
M-x hanoi - plays tower of hanoi for n number of towers
Does this mean that anyone who uses EMACS will be considered a terrorist and threat to national security?

Agreed. Miyamoto-san pisses excellence in the video game world - Valve is most likely ecstatic over that simple compliment. Well done guys :)
Multiple birds with one stone, I approve! :)
