I hate the fact that you're still dependent on logging into Steam to play the game. Sure, you can set it for "offline" mode, but to do that you have to, guess what, Log In! So your internet connection goes down, or Steam rolls out a huge update and everybody and their grandmother are pushing steam servers into non-responsiveness (as happened with the TF2 update earlier this year), what then? You can't play HL2 Episode 3 or whatever other single player game you purchased through them until the connection's back.

Other than that, it's nice to play without worrying about CDs or malware installed on your computer to make publishers feel more secure.

I have never quite understood the instance, some people seem to have, that you cannot prove God exists while insisting it is possible to prove he doesn't.

Technically, you could prove God doesn't exist for certain definitions of God. For example, I'm reasonably sure you could prove that omnipotence is impossible, thereby proving the non-existence of an omnipotent God. Well, I guess you'd have to have a strict definition of "omnipotence" as well....

It goes without saying, that his views to not fit with mine. Somehow he does not "get" the morality that is involved in being motivated to not hurt the developer if he's nice to you too.

And strangely, he's a media industry manager, who does not get why DRM is so evil, too.

Just from these two examples (which I admit is a rather small sample for in depth analysis) I think your brother just doesn't get "morality" in general. All's fair in love and war, and life is war, right?

The article (and even the Slashdot summary) makes it quite clear that under the new Canadian law, it's necessary to prove that there was intent to re-distribute the illegal recording before any charges can be laid.

    Not quite....

Until the new law took effect in 2007, prosecutors had to show evidence of distribution to get a conviction; now, recording without permission is sufficient.

An interesting book by Carl Sagan points out that the size of babies' heads seems to be bigger than women's pelvises were designed to handle, but they're already pretty much at their limits as well: any bigger and women would have a hard time walking.

So women just need to give birth earlier, and babies need to survive earlier births better. Sounds like a job for evolution.
