Windows 8 is better than Windows 7 in every way on a technical level. Its funny that Windows 8 is so good that the only thing people can really complain about is the change of the start menu which i find to be an improvement.

  16. Windows 8 is fine. The hatred is unjustified on Will Microsoft Sell Off Its Entertainment Division? · · Score: -1

Everyone that sincerely tries Windows 8, finds that its a very good OS. Some people are thrown off by the lack of the old start menu but then quickly adapt as its no longer needed, and the replacement is far better (not perfect but more functional) The rest who cant live without the old start menu, install a 3rd party start menu program. I think this is a mistake to do so, but it is their choice.

Overall Windows 8 on Surface Pro is incredible. It's the first version of windows I've bought in a long time. The price was right and the software was worth it.

Microsoft is on the right path. They are not perfect, and they need to focus and refine. They need to be passionate and direct. Windows 8 is a good example of a new direction. It's more efficient than any windows version in recent times. Its stable and its a workstation and a mobile os. That is impressive and ambitious.

Windows 8 is also up against Windows 7. Both are great OS's and one doesnt NEED Windows 8 because they are so similar. However Windows 8 is faster, and more efficient and its touch and mobile friendly. I think this is why one can say Windows 8 hasnt done well, because people have Windows 7 which is still considered the best version of windows MS has ever made. I think Windows 8 is that version but its clear Microsoft is turning towards a better future.

Microsoft's biggest problem is their big ideas, often lack complete follow through. They dont give the user EVERYTHING they want or need. They always seem to leave some aspect lacking, and users left asking why?

Thats where Microsoft needs to improve. Windows 8 is a phenomenal OS. The engineers and programmers should all be proud. Their hard work is stable, sold, efficient and faster than previous versions. It's clear that the team is capable of anything if they put their mind to it.

The old start menu was redundant.

The new one is now basically an app launcher and a touch based app interface, one of which i rarely use. Thats how redundant the start menu was. Taskbar is where its at.
