I used to think this. I once bought the Dlink 624 router and it did exactly as you described. It would reboot constantly... every 5 seconds.

I ripped that thing to shreads by word of mouth... I bought the linksys WRT54gs and returned the dlink-624 router...

That was a couple years ago...

Fast foward to today... I was very concerned about the dlink 624 that FIOS gives you. I had FIOS installed a few months ago and it turned out that the Linksys WRT54GS would SLOW MY SPEED DOWN. It would cut 10mb from the service because it couldnt keep up.

The Dlink 624 that i was given by Verizon with my FIOS install, runs at a full 30/5 mb service consistantly. AND there are no reboots.

The reboot problem that i experienced a year ago, does not happen at all with this Dlink 624.

BTW Verizon has custom firmware for the Dlink 624 that they give you.

The router is performing extremely well and I cant explain why.

Like i said, i bitched about the dlink 624 for a long time and praised my linksys but... that situation is now reversed oddly enough and i cant explain why the Dlink 624 works so well now.

I have FIOS 30/5 service and i love it. I'm lucky enough to be in a Cablevision market and FIOS 30/5 is offered for $50 a month

The install process is a few hours long. I'm proud to be the first person in my area to have it. (I've had a few months now) I cant tell you how happy i am to no longer be a Cablevision Optonline broadband subscriber. I was one of the first Optonline subscribers and saw their service degrade horribly over the years.

FIOS has forced OOL to "BOOST" their speeds but they're still plagued by the same upload usage caps and harrasment.

FIOS is the internet as it should have been 10 years ago. Every house in America should have had Fiber 10 years ago.

If you can at all get Fiber and the service provider is capable of actually delivering on its promises (like Verizon FIOS) then by all means look into it.

I'm hardly a coporate fanboy but Verizon has done right this time. They made a very bold and expensive move by rolling out Fiber services to the house. Other companies should be as bold. Cablevision once was... and they may be again some day.

The great thing about Fios is that it will wake up the broadband world. We demand speed... So the Broadband providers of the world better deliver.

I get solid performance and I really cant be anymore happier with FIOS. Well if they gave me 100/50 ;)

Anyways... Bravo to any company willing to advance our civilization by not holding back technology and delivering it to the people.

Oh I agree. Its yet to be seen if Nintendo's move will be effective, but its clear that they are out numbered, or out "teched" in this case.

Nintendo is certainly going to try to be creative and that is the right move considering nintendo's situation.

I'm not saying nintendo is a bad company. I'm saying they are at a severe disadvantage on the technology front and now they're going to be creative to try to make up for it. I dont know if it will work, it certainly could... But one thing is for sure Nintendo is clearly trying new ideas to survive because its failing badly in image and clearly it cant compete with the hardware.

I'm not saying nintendo made the wrong move. I'm just pointing out the bullshit in their spinning PR.

    yes... DS... READ DS...

Now compare the gamecube to PS2 world wide.

The Wii is not a handheld device...

I'm well aware that the PSP is a flop. We're talking consoles.

The fact that nintendo's DS is outselling PSP is just more proof of my point that Nintendo cant compete when it comes to technology, but instead has to compete with inventive design.

PSP is far superior to the DS (hardware wise). Nintendo's DS is a peice of junk in every aspect when you look at its hardware. HOWEVER It has a touch screen, and of course it has great games like Advance Wars.

Nintendo's only hope is to compete with their radical ideas, rather than their inferior technology. Thank you for prooving my point.

My point is Nintendo is spinning the bullshit yarn on this Wii issue. Nintendo cant deliver the same quality hardware, so instead its going to try to do something new with interactive design.

    Will it work?

We'll find out, but it certainly is a sign of death for nintendo when they cant keep up with todays technology.

  12. Just release the controller for GameCube... on Wii Graphics 'Better Than At E3' · · Score: -1, Troll

Nintendo is dead. They're spinning this because they are out of the technology loop. Sony is spending far more money than Nintendo on new technology because they can afford to. Nintendo can not compete and they are now trying to spin it.

They may come out with an innovative controller (or not) but they simply cant compete with Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo hasnt had enough success to compete on the buisness end of things and their brand name is associated with a "toyish" second class videogame company where as Sony is considered a major entertainment company with a high end video game console.

    Nintendo is in trouble....

Thats not to say the Wii wont or can not succeed. It could infact make Nintendo great once again. I doubt it but it could happen.

Its just clear that they have to take a hit this generation and shift their strategy towards new ideas, rather than best technology. Its the classic "outsmart your enemy with the bigger and better army, by using creative thinking"

Nintendo has a hell of a hill to climb.

I have a huge problem with windows media player. Microsoft does not support a good step through frame commend, reverse playback, or quicktime like encoding features with export/import of frame sequences etc.

I always use Windows Media Player Classic because it does so much more than the media player when it comes to playback control and it works better overall, and has a better interface.

Microsoft is trying to make it into itunes, rather than turning it into a real media player. It is a one big button ui. Any advanced video control functionality is either missing or hidden (i cant find them)

They may have a pretty skin, but the player itself always falls short of being a real video player.

They want to be itunes, and not a real video player for all who need it. Apple does it far better with quicktime on the Mac, and their PC version while not as good as the mac version is still useable for content creators/video editors.

The Microsoft Media Player on the other hand is a toy, thats chasing Itunes.

My music is already in Itunes Microsoft... If the media player 11 interfaces with my Ipod i'll maybe consider it, until then... i dont really care about the itunes like features.

Microsoft has always been late to the party, and they do this weasel like catch up strategy, that never satisfies...

WMP 11 is just another Microsoft mess. Get it right or get rid of it. Its fucking version 11 already.... How many versions do you need before you add real video playback controls?
