And how would this affect the calculations of how the galaxy's gravity affects everything else?

Keep in mind that some forms of Christianity/Judaism are stricter and more oppressive than Islam. And some forms of Islam are more liberal and open than mainstream Christianity/Judaism.
Historically Islam has been more tolerant of other religions than Christianity ever was, just the current majority of Muslims we hear about follow an interpretation of the Muhammad's Teachings that He would not totally have approved of, just like Christ would have issues with some of the current Church practices done in his name.
What everyone seems to forget is that Christianity, Judaism, Islam and even a few "Pagan" belief systems all have the same foundations, but rather than seek to embrace the 98% they have in common they argue, fight and kill over the 2% that is unique to there beliefs, talk about missing the forest for the tree.
Another poster pointed out awhile back that another reason for this buy out of SCO is to keep its internal records from becoming public.
The whole thing is just a ploy to shield all those internal emails and documents that would reveal just who was really behind it all, we all know that M$ is in on it but who else could there be? What other companies or business interests have benefited from the FUD that SCO has generated?
By buying SCO and taking it back to a privatively held company it could be quietly dismantled and the evidence of collusion and conspiracy buried permanently.

And you can also be guaranteed that those who opt out of the filtered feed will be put on some kind of watch list as potential trouble makers.

As BWJones commented, we don't know enough about exactly how sleep works and what its function is in our mental health to start eliminating it by messing with the brain's chemistry. This will likely end up being abused by someone, be it the military, commercial pilots, or students trying to cram for a test, or some sicko as part of a brain washing regime, it doesn't matter, it will happen and it won't be pretty.

I would point out that most of the people currently watching over the rovers are very fond of the two, and there would have been more than a few tears if they had been lost. I know this because I have had the good fortune to meet some of them during my last employment.
Just because you restrict your affection to humans doesn't mean everyone else should as as well. The Universe is large enough for all sorts of views.
And I would never knit a red, white and blue sweater for either of the rovers, it would cover their solar panels. But a scarf, hmm, maybe something in a soft green...^_^

Second, that there will be a "next election", don't forget that those in power do anything to stay in power. This administration has already tried to delay the elections in '04 due to concerns over security and has since set itself up with some scary martial law powers.
Anyone want to take bets on the odds of there being a major "terrorist attack" in the US within 4-6 months of the next election? And as long as it doesn't directly impact the "common person", increase in gas price, beer, cable TV or interrupt Monday night football, most of the sheeple will just let it happen.

Installing an older OS over a new one is a "downgrade". Installing a new, but different, OS is just that, installing a different OS.
So, installing XP over Vista is a "downgrade".
Installing the latest Ubuntu, or any current GNU/Linux, is "moving to a different OS because I don't want/like Vista".

MS will continue as normal, claiming support for open standards while locking anyone they can into formats/software they own.
ODF will continue as a marginalized format used by people on the "fringe".
