Funny, I learned a lot of E about how things should be, true feelings, good tastes, etc. And I have taken those feelings and applied them to my daily life and now I can always feel that way if I want to at any time - my body "learned" how good things can be.
I was a heavy user in my younger years too, so I am living proof (or the exception) that drugs do not mess you up. I am definately a better and stronger person after the introspective look into myself that drugs gave me in my younger years.
I guess my posting of this wasn't good enough for the editors so I am going to add a related article that shows how the US could go after any security expert who aids offshore gambling sites.
Can read all about it here
Very interesting theories for the security people here to think about.
Maybe it is only for the Natives on their reservation. I do know it has been reported in our local paper more than once, so I am sure they wouldn't just say that without fact checking I'd hope.
Also, I play poker with some of them and have heard them talk about it.
Fantasy has magic and SciFI has technology.
Both typically create new worlds for your mind to explore. I also have read in many philosophical ideals in many books that have had me thinking in new directions.
I agree.
I see the market going the way of Hollywood where the big producers of games (EA, etc) make the "Safer" games then independent developers make the more edgy/risky type games. Then once those games become popular they are sucked into the mainstream and cloned (much like the matrix movie was).
It can be argued that Slashdot is the sum of it's readers. So if the majority of Slashdot readers are pro-linux then Slashdot is pro-linux.
I definately see Slashdot as a pro-linux, anti-microsoft type of place.
Meanwhile, the Defenders of Light call on players to battle the forces of darkness, which include a few elements from a more familiar world. In particular, the Defenders hope to defeat the United States of America -- "a beachhead," they say, "for the invasion of the Devil."
I say get a bunch of American clans over there and kick some commie butt!
How come they do not mention Cap'n Crunch running around all bug-eyed at raves in the Bay Area?
Saw him going to them for up until I left the area in '96, came back in '03 and still raving. Sad thing is, few of my friends out there had ever heard of him:( Gives you perspective on our personal realities.
..but it seems like this quote is backing up the research as independent.
The funding "never affects the research -- at least at Forrester it doesn't," Mahoney said. "There are some vendors, not the one in question here, but some vendors who say, 'I'd like you to write this thing, and here's what I'd like it to say.' The great majority of research firms at that point will say, 'Thank you very much,' and hang up, or point them toward one of the guys who does that."
I got the overall impression that the article was positive for Microsoft. It seemed to address issues people may have with the study then show them point and couterpoint. I would give this a +1 in favor of Microsoft in the end if you take the article overall.
I guess I was right. Although I was kinda half-joking with that post on SCwatch. I do know there are a lot of intelligent people here that know about this kinda stuff:)
I do not use Linux but is it interoperable with everything?
I cannot imagine putting MILLIONS of dollars into development then having other companies software packaged with my hard work.
It is so easy to jump on the Microsfot is evil bandwagon but they are just like every other company out there, they just do it better.
I am sure this is flamebait since it is pro-microsoft.
So I guess my life-long love of computing and all things dealing with computers. Doing stuff with them at work and then going home and doing more stuff is going to fade away??
That will be a hard sell to the majority of people here...everyone has their niche, maybe lego building is his.
I help create specs for our offshore programmers to use. When we first started using them they kept trying to innovate and severely impacted our deadlines & budget. They kept trying to make our complex financial formulas/requirements simple (bad idea!). In fact after they completed we had a local consulting team come by and review their code. It was so sloppy/inefficeient we got a free 2 months of work out of them and 50% off for 2 months after that (included sending 2 programmers to USA to work in house to clean it up).
The thing I noticed once the coders got here is that the quality level went way up when they were in house. I think a lot of the problems were communication and not understanding what we needed. When they were in house they could talk to us during normal daylight hours and not at 2 AM when their brains were dull over a conference call.
Take from this what you will, had to put my 2 cents in.
The big kicker for me is the Electronic Music on XM radio is far superior.
They have channels by some of my favorite djs and regular shows from Thump Radio & Biohazard from California that I just can't get on my Central Iowa radio.
Not to mention some nice ambient sounds too on another channel.
My buddy has it and we listen to it when we trek around the country to electronic music parties and such. It is great, will be getting one in the near future.

The casino in my area, Meskwaki, gives each native $2000 with no strings attached...
Since when are Native Americans a criminal organization? Get a grip man..
