let's hope this is the first nail in the coffin of a truly bad idea. How is BPL a bad idea? Aside from the problems that need to be worked out with interference with hobbists, this could be a legitimate alternative to dsl and cable. It would be wonderful if a bit of competition could make broadband a little more prevalent/affordable.
My '03 vw gti (with the 1.8t, not the vr6, 5 speed manual) is supposed to get around 24 city/31 hwy. The car definately has some zip to it. I put the zip to good use, and my overall average is around 30.1mpg. So, I dont think your the only one.
I wonder what this discussion(though all ancedotal evidence) will say about how accurate the epa is about their milage claims.
First off, I totally agree with you about the stalness of the vast majority of music produced by the major labels, but I think in the grand scheme its beside the point.
While you and I arent running out to buy the new beastie boys album, many people are. They have the right to fair use. The beastie boys and the labels are dnying that right.
I know I'm just complaining without offering a solution, but no matter how crappy we think the state of music is just not buying it is not the solution.
I have to say though, as the owner of an iBook that had to go through the logic board repair nonsense, you might have been one of the few that had real issues getting good service from Apple. Personally when I sent in my iBook for its new logic board it came back running Panther(I had sent it in with jag), a new key board, a fixed pinched cable, and they even replaced one of the little foot thingys that had fallen off. All at no cost to me, I'd have to say, for the most part, no one does a better job of taking care of customers than Apple.
From the Article: Microsoft said last year that it would be seeking to improve earnings from technology which it claims it invented and would be using its patent portfolio to do so. This is just all a horrible scheme to make some extra money, from an idea they have no real claim to.
Its totally irrelavent as to when the school noticed/stopped him. The guy is asking for a degree based on work he didnt do. He cheated. he got caught, and now is just fishing for a way out.
Theres no way on earth he could have thought the university would be thrilled with his plagerism.
You know, in a odd way personal webpages might serve as a legacy of sorts. Though the viewer for the most part might not know you're dead, your projects, photos, thoughts, and "stuff" (basically your life) is still up and being viewed.
I don't know about anyone else, but I don't really want to be forgotten.
(And I know this is probably a silly way to be remembered, but its just a thought)
Genetic engineering is not sustainable--especially with technology like the terminator technology--which if ever got let out into the wild, or even on to other's farms via bird poop or wind would wipe out entire species of plants( terminator technology is the technology that grows a fruit or vegetable without producing fertile seeds).
The terminator gene is not the only problem in the case of GM foods. Another real issue is the shallowing of the gene pool. What happens, as we become increasingly dependent on GM foods, when some plant disease sweeps through and destroys the years worth of crops?
I understand this is an extreme example, but there is diversity in nature for a reason.
The need to prevent forward contaimination is a legitament concern. What happens in the future when we do find some kind of organism on mars, and it simply came from earth?
Plus, we simply do not know enough about the planet from our limited excursions to discount anything.
So now I can get TV on my phone, along with a PDA, a game console, and a camera, etc......
But they still can't make a simple phone that just calls people and has a phone book. Super.

Nasa also has a probe headed to Saturn. Its called Cassini, and should be seven months, though its only an orbiter.
I have tries a number of different things to help with my ADD. Like you daughter I had problems handling the stimulant medications. I know the symdomes are simular, so some of what worked for me may help
You might want to try looking into changes in her diet. I found lots of fresh veggies and fruits(think anti oxident). You may also want to try giving her a vitamin supplement strong in Phenylalanine and Glutamine. Flax seed should take care of it too.
I eleminated basically all the dairy from my diet as well. Soy and rice milk can be substuted for almost anything
Hope this helps. Its only from my own experience so take it with a grain of salt.
What does the program look for in the bill to decide it is one? Is it looking for seals, or layout of the bill or what?
It might be interesting to see if this might be extended to other potential counterfitting items, like bonds or identifications. Or is it already, anyone know?
I seriously doubt this will catch on in anywide spread way. Its simply another way of thelling how quickly the horse is traveling, but this doesnt help in the conditioning of the horse any more than a stop watch.
I'm involved with horses(in a non-techy way), and believe me, the people who work in the industry are old school, and tech illiterate. They wouldnt even know what to do with this.
Maybe this is just the uber geek in me speaking, but am the only one that thinks this is a remarkably neat idea.
Not to meantion that it might win the space agency a couple of P.R. points.
Whether or not Mircosoft is responisble for the publics mistrust of computers, an easy solution would simply to for the voting machine to make a print out as well as recording the voters choices. There would then be a double record of the vote(In case of any electronic problem), and the pice of paper would also make a mistrustful public less wary.
More importantly courts and other venues of the legal world will accept a faxed signature as real, or as a temporary solution till a real letter with a persons signature is recieved. You still can't do that with email.

If your going to do the joke, you might as well do it right I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

Doesnt it just seem that the Bush administration is mad with power over just about everything?
