    Perhaps they work for a high-ish security company/position that does not allow 'camera-phones' to be taken in to work.
    That said, though, If you work in a place like that, I have a hard time believing they'd exempt any current phone, lest they have to check/re-check every single time.

    You're going to see a lot of negative, bitter posts in here from guys who feel like they've been taken advantage of. I'm definitely one of them, but I won't bore you by parroting.
    Are you assertive? If not, that might be the one thing others might not think to advise you one. Find some way of ensuring you are treated fairly for performing beyond your "normal" role. Ask the other employees whether your employer is known for being a tight-ass with money and funds for projects. Ask if they're justly rewarded when they take on extra tasks. What I've learned is don't just "assume" or "hope" that you'll be noticed for being a "team player". If you have more than 2-3 people tell you what you don't want to hear, get out, or at least clear it up with your boss NOW. You're not asking for a raise, you just want to be sure you're not bitter, stressed, and burned out in a year.

    They even got smacked down over the do not call list. For all its failures, it was a pretty popular idea. Congress had to pass a law to authorize them to make it/try to enforce it.

    Yeah, good points. I wonder, though, how much different the mix I described is from standard fog machines in night clubs and haunted houses. I believe that's just glycerine mixed with water.

    I'd imagine the metals are coming from the cheap RDA's or mods, or whatever they're called. The wire, if it's cheap could have who-knows-what in it, and when it gets hot enough, just like the screws it's held in with....

    I have to wonder if the simpler non-nicotine versions are anywhere near as harmful. Food-grade vegetable glycerine and peppermint oil just don't scream, "I am chemical death" to me, but what do I know.

    Who do you think has more money to throw around up on The Hill? The telcos, or the landlords? Isn't it technically illegal for the landlord to be getting a kickback for granting exclusive use, anyway? So, in theory, they'd have nothing to lose, anyway?

  22. I'm using a late 2013 27" iMac with the 2GB GTx 775M and 3.4Ghz i5.... And I just used a friend's late 2008 imac with dual quad processors or something like that, and I gotta say, the prices on ebay look tempting as an "upgrade" option. With PCI cards that can do USB 3.0 and possibly handle the newer graphics cards, any new Pro models next year had better really haul butt.

    Yeah, well, to be fair, in that episode, he has a good point, but he looks like a dated old fool when he grumbles something about "finding out how that magic box works".. I think at the time it was a Treo (palm/cell phone hybrid. before iPhones.)... So he basically reminisces on the 'good ol' days' but hasn't stayed current enough.

    Well, I did say "and" the teacher said it was ok. I'm referring to a real-world case where I'm IN a class in the same department with a student that has been tapped to teach a course, and taking said course an hour or two later... But, I'm probably using such a specific example, it's kinda pointless. Sorry!

    I'd never have used a professor's first name unless the age gap was minimal, and they had explicitly said it was OK... BUT... we walked half-way across campus in 95-degree heat in 90% humidity, to a temporary/portable building that sat maybe 30 students... Then we get told that unlike just about every other class we'd been in, this philosophy teacher (a condescending hippy, ironically, enough) didn't allow drinks... I watched an argument get pretty heated once, and started wondering, hey, who's paying who to be here?
