i guess you aren't aware that you can turn off the preference in iphoto to copy your photos to your iphoto library. when you turn off that option you can store your photos how you want and where you want.
dreamhost is offering a service for their customers:
https://files.dreamhost.com/
- No DRM is allowed.. period!
- Once you upload your file to sell, you pay a tiny one-time storage fee, and we serve it FOREVER at a nice, permanent, URL.
- Anybody who buys a file somebody offers via Files Forever get an online backup of it included.. that is, they may re-download the file as many times as they want, FOREVER!
- Any file you buy from Files Forever you can also "loan" to your friends via the service! They are then allowed to download the file as much as they want until you ask for it "back." (This is awesome, trust me.)
- We handle all the payment processing / shopping cart stuff, and take just 5% + 50c for credit card fees. (We combine purchases to minimize these costs too.)
- You can even offer an "affiliate cut" for people who re-sell your files!
actually that's not correct. just go to apple.com, click on the store, then click on the education link, enter in any zip code, choose a school and you are good to go. you don't need any number or anything else.
This is a terrible idea. Even AOL wouldn't do this to their customers.
i can't tell if you are just trying to be funny but this is EXACTLY what AOL does and has been doing for a while now. my ISP has been dealing with AOL blocking their IPs this entire year.
That's not always the case. I just paid $6.99 for 4 songs, because the one song I wanted, was only available by purchasing "the album". Apple/iTunes seems to be doing this more and more.
and you do know that the artists are the ones who structure it that way. the artists are the ones who decide if a song is only available by purchasing the entire album.
it's not itunes/apple doing it - but i guess it's a lot easier and cooler to just blame apple for everything.
My only complaint about Apple has nothing to do with their DRM, but rather being locked into iTunes + iPod.If Microsoft did this, we'd scream bloody murder, monopology, technical hegemony, etc.
i disagree because Microsoft IS DOING THIS. their DRM is locked into Windows.... last i checked it doesn't work on Mac OS X.
why people are completely ignoring that fact is beyond me.
The difference is that Apple is intentionally and artifically restricting the ability of consumers to use a product on other companies hardware.
yeah, kind of like how Microsoft is intentionally and artificially restricting the ability of the consumer to use windows DRM media on other companies Operating Systems......
last i checked Microsofts DRM doesn't play in Mac OS X
I don't know a single person who I would call knowledgeable about IT who has a Mac. All the Mac users I know (roughtly a dozen) know, and care, nothing about IT. That's pretty well why they wanted a Mac in the first place.
yeah and how many average PC buyers know anything about IT? NONE! i haven't met one average PC buyer who even knows what an IP address is.
i'm a mac person and i have set up networks for everyone i know.

the reason why over half of the users are over the age of 35 is becase that half all works for Dateline NBC
i want to live in Verison Land too, is that anywhere near Verizon Land?
dreamhost is my provider as well and they have been having the same issues with AOL for at least the past 6 months.....
dreamhost already has their own reliability issues to deal with and now they have to fight with comcast.
sigh.
can someone please explain to me why it comes with a floppy drive?
how is this news? i had always though AOL 1.0-8.x was also called Badware
where do you get 18 months from? ipod NANO came out last september. i forgot to ad the 'nano' in the previous post

no, you're just the only one who hasn't read the other comments :)
Since she's young, her parents should have PROTECTED her, it's their responsibility, not myspace's job to protect her.
seems to me that it's the parent who failed to protect their child from adult sexual predators..... not myspace

in order for that to be true DSLRs have to have live previews..... which they don't.
i'm pretty sure you are the only retarded person here.
too bad you can't just buy a sense of humor.
