I cut the cable probably ten years ago. My approach has evolved a lot since then, but now relies on subsonic as the server and sickbeard+usenet for aggregating shows. I can watch on any platform including my Android phone. It's beautiful.
I would gladly pay a reasonable price for a comparable service, but none exist. I'd rather watch shows and get on with my life than try to navigate what shows I can and can't watch on Hulu vs. Hulu+ trying to find legitimate stream for things not on Netflix, etc.
I think they need a big name behind the game. Grab writers and a director from Hollywood to do the story. The gameplay they've already pretty much got nailed down, but imagine if they had some big name writers and directors behind the next COD. That's where they can innovate and continue to blur the lines between video game and movie.
I say tether all the live long day. The carriers say you can't tether because it would be too much of an abuse on their system. In the next breath they enforce caps of a few gigabytes. So if the network load is already being managed, why not let you tether? I mean, to rightly charge you for it they need to offer you something in return for your money, right?
To take this a bit further: If I download something onto my phone, and later transfer it to my computer, have I tethered? Data has appeared on my computer that came from the internet via my phone. What if I write a script to automate the process? What if I expand it to a full program that can allow me to initiate the requests from my computer? At what point does that become tethering?
Freedom to choose your device is one of the tenants of net neutrality. I'm not going to pay the same company twice for the access to the same thing.
This is truly a rare thing to see - congress discussing laws that they are actually given permission to enact in the constitution. Interstate commerce.
I see this argument crop up all the time. When you trust science you are not blindly believing what some guy in a lab-coat tells you. You are trusting a consensus of the scientific community. You trust it because you have seen the scientific method, we have a good track record, and the claims don't usually strain plausibility. And the best part is that you are ready at any time to admit the consensus was wrong based on new evidence (I'd like to see a faith-based organization that does that!). You don't necessarily need to understand the nuances of the discipline in order to trust that it's probably accurate.
When they're pulling over people for looking "too mexican" they can put them on a scale, too. Welcome to Arizona, land of the free and home of the eh, whatever.
They are, however, getting very close to being able to clone hair follicles. That will be the real cure. Clone follicles that are not programmed to stop producing hair (from the back of your head) and implant them on the top.
When the kid stopped paying attention in elementary school they should have done what all good schools do: tell the kid he's stupid and make him start repeating classes and giving him detention.
A moot point as the world will end in 2012. But maybe if the reptilians are able to come to the surface and learn our technology they will be able to pick up where we left off and study the astroid.
Really? You think it's just coincidence that modern smartphones lept forward in both software and hardware after the iPhone in exactly the amount of time it takes to develop and manufacture such a device. I'm sure you're right, the competition from the hotest new phone on the block - years ahead of anything else - probably didn't play at all into any strategic decisions made by Google, Palm, or Microsoft. I'm sure Android 2.3, WebOS, and Windows 7 would all miraculously exist exactly the same today had the iPhone never been introduced. Even though we were all using Windows Mobile 6 for like 80 years before all that happened.
As I recently converted to Keanuism, a religion I invented (and by invented I mean discovered) that believes Keanu is an immortal being who is sending us messages through his films, I was looking forward to the 4th and 5th gospels of Keanu.
I'm not sure what to make of Point Break, but Keanu works in mysterious ways.
I don't use the iPhone because I don't like the control Apple exerts over it. Still, I recognize that the place smart phones are in today is due to the existence of the iPhone and without it those of us using smart phones would still be using Windows Mobile 6.5 bricks. So my relationship with Apple is both positive and negative. If we lose Steve Jobs, we will lose a driving force in the industry that will effect the quality of the electronics you buy; Apple or otherwise.
It would have been impossible for someone outside of anonymous to forge such a file!
Er Didn't Apple buy a chip manufacturer so they could design their own chips? Who makes the A4 and A5 chips? I don't think it's Samsung...
I'll wait until he leaks some documents to back up his wild, unfounded conspiracy theory.

That's exactly what he has in mind AFAIK.

They have to have physical access to your phone.
I don't think 20 seconds a day counts.

No no, that was Comcast. We're talking about Xfinity(tm), here!

Better pass a bunch of poorly written laws with over-reaching and unforeseen ramifications and egregious penalties anyway. You know, just to be safe.

That is called a "honeypot."
Here is the video, in case you can't reach his smoldering server: http://vimeo.com/20286577
If you're incompetent, just hire a bunch of new people that are too dumb to realize it. Problem solved!

These guys have no f'ing clue what they are talking about. If it's true, then I probably know all 100 people.
Interesting since the chief Android Market guy said yesterday that they welcomed the Amazon store because competition would be good for the market.

If you couldn't tell, that was all sarcasm.
