You've obviously never met a real bitch before. It's not an insult it's a fact.. Sometimes in rare cases it's ok to be impolite because it's the only course of action.. In those cases she's just a bitch.
I agree that VR is lacking without allowing for movement but I don't think having a device that will allow all range of motion you want in a game to take place in a stationary postion. Things like climbing ladders, jumping gaps, and swimming. Things like collision detection would be virtually impossible and if you did hit a wall in VR your vision would stop but you could more than likely continue to walk in that direction. I think all these things would be more feasible in a matrix/eXistenZ style setup... Although I don't see that happening for quite some time.
to me.. Why is electronic voting such a difficult thing to do securely? I don't get it.. I'd say I know abit more about security issues on such a topic than the general public and I can't see any hurrdles we simply couldn't overcome.
Let the world unite by teaming up and killing these evil alien would be invaders just like Independence Day! I have video game flight sim experience! Put me in coach!
When it first airred I watched every episode and I recall not really getting into the show. I watched the entire series again after I learned of the unairred episodes (and that they were out of order) and I fell in love with the show. I now consider it the best scifi series I've seen on TV. (My top 3 right now are Firefly, Farscape, DS9.. I've seen pretty much all treks and most of B5.. I was very dispointed with B5 btw)
Hmm.. I think they have to have some pretty quick ship if they can go to so many planets in such little time. I recall a scene where they said because of creative navigating a 2 day trip took most of the week to do. That's gotta be pretty damn fast to get from one planet to another.. The closest Mars can come to Earth is 56 million kilometers so.. So let's just say that's about the distance they travel on this trip. So we're looking at something like 325km/s.. Ok, so that's pretty damn far from light speed but I say it's still pretty quick.. Which I believe to be about Mach16.4ish?
I'm also reminded of one of the early DS9 eps where Q comes to visit and Sisko is annoyed and actually hits Q and knocks him down. Not quite as powerful as what you just described but makes for a very interesting captain (err well Commander then).
Don't forget when DS9 did the ep where Sisko murders a Romulan diplomat and blames it on the Dominion in an effect to bring the Romulans into the war against the Dominion.. That's pretty far from perfect federation ideals
Go watch some DS9.. From episode #1 they have the basic plot in place for the entire series.. Sure it has it's off plot episodes but for the most part it's a single story and a damn fine one. I've seen 95% of B5 and I had a hard time getting into the show.. The acting was horrible and each episode was cheesier than the next. Sure there were a few surprises but I just couldn't grow to love the show. DS9 is my favorite Trek but as far as alltime best Scifi TV shows it's Firefly with Farscape coming in a close second. Give DS9 a shot I think you'll enjoy it
As far as gaming goes I have a feeling it'll be very difficult to teach yourself to THINK the correct thought for complex games. We're so used to responding directly with our hands (and feet) in games that I feel it will be quit difficult to make the transition. However as far as replacing limbs for amputee's seems like a more practical application. Playing a game with your mind seems more feasible if you hvae direct input from the game into your mind (not via eyes/ears).. Then again I've never tried such games so I could just be talking out of my ass again.. Hmm there's an idea...
It's a big job and somebody has to do it! So I'll take on the task. Simply email me all your passwords and personal information such as credit card numbers and whatnot. I'll even get started early by familiarizing myself with your data so when die I'll know what's worth using err sharing with the world.
This is just a bad idea! Forcing nerds, geeks, and dweebs into physical activity would give them the ability to finally defeat the jocks and get the girl.
And a five second window to transmit the sequence is pretty generous. If you wanted to harden it even more against brute forcing, you could require a full 5 second wait and accept all connection attempts from a particular host. That would limit an attacker to 20 attempts per minute max. So it'll take the better part of 32 billion trillion years to crack it.
Well, then write a nice outlook virus that performs some sorta distributed computing method to have all outlook users contributing to hacking the box:)
It was Long Way Down by the Goo Goo Dolls.. It was 95/96ish.. Saw somebody talking about it in a channel on irc (don't recall the channel but it was efnet) and they dcced me the song.. This was pre napster/winamp days so we used wplayer3 or something like that.. It was pretty crappy but hey it beat.mods
Well, I don't vote.. I think it's pointless.. But I also think our system of voting (USA) is poorly designed for the technology we have. Why don't we have a multiple options. If I want to vote via the interne from home you'd think that would be an option. If I don't have a computer why don't we have the option to vote via phone? Phone broke? Ok then you can walk head out to your local public school and do it the old fashion way. I mean how hard can it be to setup a simple system where you login and vote.. It just boggles my mind.
shows that if you are located in a region where a study be being conducted you are 70% more likely to die.
Porn.. More porn less children. If 3rd world countries has access to porn they wouldn't have a dozen kids

Well, how is that any different from our current system?

Don't relax! It's what they want you to do!
That's why we need to make math more exciting.. Add some sorta penalty for not getting it right say a nice wedgy by the other team's bully.
Where might I find more information on developing my masterbastion skills?
Uh.. Just remove the poem via some photo editing software?
