  4. Great but ultimately flawed.. on Walking In A VR Future · · Score: 1

I agree that VR is lacking without allowing for movement but I don't think having a device that will allow all range of motion you want in a game to take place in a stationary postion. Things like climbing ladders, jumping gaps, and swimming. Things like collision detection would be virtually impossible and if you did hit a wall in VR your vision would stop but you could more than likely continue to walk in that direction. I think all these things would be more feasible in a matrix/eXistenZ style setup... Although I don't see that happening for quite some time.

When it first airred I watched every episode and I recall not really getting into the show. I watched the entire series again after I learned of the unairred episodes (and that they were out of order) and I fell in love with the show. I now consider it the best scifi series I've seen on TV. (My top 3 right now are Firefly, Farscape, DS9.. I've seen pretty much all treks and most of B5.. I was very dispointed with B5 btw)

Hmm.. I think they have to have some pretty quick ship if they can go to so many planets in such little time. I recall a scene where they said because of creative navigating a 2 day trip took most of the week to do. That's gotta be pretty damn fast to get from one planet to another.. The closest Mars can come to Earth is 56 million kilometers so.. So let's just say that's about the distance they travel on this trip. So we're looking at something like 325km/s.. Ok, so that's pretty damn far from light speed but I say it's still pretty quick.. Which I believe to be about Mach16.4ish?

Go watch some DS9.. From episode #1 they have the basic plot in place for the entire series.. Sure it has it's off plot episodes but for the most part it's a single story and a damn fine one. I've seen 95% of B5 and I had a hard time getting into the show.. The acting was horrible and each episode was cheesier than the next. Sure there were a few surprises but I just couldn't grow to love the show. DS9 is my favorite Trek but as far as alltime best Scifi TV shows it's Firefly with Farscape coming in a close second. Give DS9 a shot I think you'll enjoy it

As far as gaming goes I have a feeling it'll be very difficult to teach yourself to THINK the correct thought for complex games. We're so used to responding directly with our hands (and feet) in games that I feel it will be quit difficult to make the transition. However as far as replacing limbs for amputee's seems like a more practical application. Playing a game with your mind seems more feasible if you hvae direct input from the game into your mind (not via eyes/ears).. Then again I've never tried such games so I could just be talking out of my ass again.. Hmm there's an idea...

Ok then you can walk head out to your local public school and do it the old fashion way. I mean how hard can it be to setup a simple system where you login and vote.. It just boggles my mind.
