Why is it M$ can't stand anyone else's success? And how is it they live in such a delusional world in which they are the only company with the only "worthwhile" products?
This is an apples and oranges argument. You can't compare paying someone's wages to paying for milk; it's a completely flawed logic. Wages are required to be a certain amount by law and that's because that's the money people need to live on. Milk is something bought with wages.
There is law to make sure people make enough money to live off of. Just because they make a few extra dollars doesn't mean they should have to spend it on something else just because they can.
Why does it matter to anyone if either of these companies (and those like them) are subsidized? Personally, I worry more about the companies making planes that don't crash and I could really care less about where the money for the development came from.
Who ever thought there'd be a pissing contest over which country made better planes?
This is my first time seeing it and I am thankful it was put up. Especially as it was put up under "Developers" instead of "Games". The firewall here at work won't let me get to any of the "Games" stories on/. but I can get to all the others.
Actually, I'm in the military and I've seen a few people get fired. If you do enough things wrong (i.e. DUIs, smoking dope, showing up to work late, etc.), they will kick you out. Most people that go out this way get a general discharge for failure to conform to military standards. It's not worth the military's time or money to send them to trial to try and imprison them (as so many people seem to think is what will happen if you get in trouble in the military).
I've switched off MSN messenger a dozen times it seems and it always finds its way back with each new Windows update. I refuse to ever get an account on that thing though.
Shrinking user base? Where?
Everyone I know seems to use AIM now and the number seems to keep growing. I keep trying to get them to quit and switch to something else, but none of them will since AIM is the one everyone else they know uses.
This is not about the employer not granting an employee's right to free speech, it is about the employer using their right to free speech.
In this instance, they're free to say, "You're fired."
(Assuming that this guy was fired, but this example applies in more situations than this).
I'm not trying to start and argument or anything, just pointing out that I doubt most kids in high school care. You leanred about your rights in a class you either skipped or wished you did. These things just aren't on the minds of kids.
However, I'm betting if this test were conducted on college students, the results would be a lot different. It's at about that age people start to get interested in such things and investigate into them. Which is probably why there are so many political protests at colleges or being done by college (or college-age) people. Most often when a high school student protests, it's in emulation of someone else.
As much as I applaud Blizzard for doing this...

The Basics of EULAs

· Score: 1
... Why couldn't they do this sooner when it came to people creating and/or using hacks for their games? If the EULA is enforceable, not only could game companies make sure the game remains fair for everyone, they could find a gold mine in taking a lot of these people to court, especially those that create hacks. Not that I want to see a world of law suits surrounding the video game industry, but I'm not thinking there would be much using of these programs after a few court cases anyways.
Customer service operators should be near the top of the list. When people call with a problem, the last thing they want is someone that probably hasn't even a clue to as the problem I'm going through. (This is coming from an American perspective). Most Americans have/had a credit card and many have run into problems with it. If I call that toll free number because I'm having a problem with the card, I'm gonna be pretty angry if someone answers the call that knows nothing more of credit cards than the pamphlet his employer showed him. And this applies to just about all products/services. Not to mention I'm gonna feel pretty lousy if the operator is silent when I crack a bad joke. I expect at least a courtesy laugh.
They're not gonna need every line tapped and thousand upon thousands of people listening. The right amount of propaganda and everyone will suspect everyone else of being a traitor and untrustworthy. Your neighbor will do the work for them by monitoring everything you do and reporting it to them, while you do the same to them. And whoever reports the other to the thought police first will be the "winner" of the neighborhood spying contest.
"just the day-to-day concerns that we might accidentally annihilate ourselves with the war-de-jour, the best way to increase our chances for survival is to spread out a little bit and prevent an accident like that from doing us all in at once."
So instead of countries fighting each other, we'll have planets?
So we must automatically conclude that Bush is a psychopath? From the fact that he mixes up his words on occasion? That's just as insane as some claim he is. Everyone has mixed up their words at one point or another, just the same as Bush has. Maybe not as often, but they have. And who's to really know how often he does it as these quotes seem to span over quite a few years. Time will tell if Bush is indeed a psycopathic, but to judge him right now as such is pretty much saying guilty until proven innocent.
Any movie Vin Diesel is in is just too far of a stretch for my imagination to take.
I'm suprised he didn't advocate doodling through class and maybe starting up your own internet cartoon as well.

This is just the biggest PASSENGER plane. There are already bigger planes that have been in the air.

You know when this survey should be completed? I'd be really interested in seeing the results.
Man, I just got to tell you that this post has absolutely made my day. Thanks.

And I'm sure you had to walk to school up hill both ways. Welcome to the new world. :)

I agree. The post that started all this should've been modded as a troll. How did it get +4 interesting?
Certainly let the lawyers have their way with things, have we?
I still have to wonder how they can file these suits without proving they're losing any money?
And now you know who your father is :)

To kids just hacking school computers to change their grades?
