privacy = dishonesty
That isn't to say that all dishonesty is necessarily negative, but I challenge anyone to think of a single instance of "privacy" that isn't also "dishonest" if you assume that withholding the truth is also being dishonest.
Sure, there are plenty of things that are none of anybody's business, but the indisputable fact is that we can't know what isn't anybody else's business, unless we know what it is first.
I for one welcome our future computerized overlord that will decide what is and what isn't anybody's business without humans having to get involved. After all, those automatic toilet flushing devices have been watching you go for years now!
What was this about? Privacy on Facebook? Who the hell publishes something on a public site design for sharing information and expects that information not to be shared. It's like people eat like pigs, never exercise and cry about being fat and out of shape. STFU.
when greed wins. What has the world come to when we openly reward those who thrive on preventing anyone from benefiting from human progress unless they themselves can derive unearned profit from it?
You are assuming that we won't get the efficiency of solar panels and batteries up, or use dry sterile lands for our collectors. There's a lot of desert out there and we already have the grids to distribute energy from anywhere to everywhere (almost).
Just image the creation of a cheap solar panels that are also roof tiles. Every single home could potentially be it's own power source in the future, and if we're going to survive as a species, I sure hope it doesn't come down to "Oh well our view is better without sustainable energy so let's just die off instead."
It's where 99.9% of the energy on this planet has come from and where 99.9% will ever come from. Sooner or later it's going to have to be our primary source.
No more Aspergers, Pluto is not a planet, life starts at conception, etc... Labelling something only help perpetrate the misunderstandings surrounding the very real issues. We need to stop calling things stuff and start actually understanding them in meaningful ways.
It seems like everything in the US takes forever to accomplish. Everything changed when the internet came to be. We can do things now in seconds that used to take days. The governing system needs to learn a thing or two from this.
However, Canada gave up the dollar bill a long long time ago, and soon we're getting rid of the penny. It seems more and more like we're the real leaders in North America now.
but they aren't using the videos, just the subtitles. I don't think 'translating' counts as stealing. I also don't think anyone is buying the movies for the subtitles, they buy the movies for the movies.
has one browser supporting something ever made it an option for web developpers. As a web developper, the only time I can bake functionality in is if 95% of users can use it. The only exception is IE 5-6-7, those users deserve to be see broken webpages.
There's no way he'd ever wear a tutu and sing songs... that'd mean a house committee member would actually get something done. The shear concept is as ludicrous as someone who doesn't understand the concept of evolution and sits on a committee involving science.
We could call it Trainium... All Aboard!
Or surreptitiously convert a pilot to their cause. While computers may be turned, so can men.

Isn't religion the root of all blasphemy?
leave them bee!
or simply the end of us putting up with corporate bullshit. Must feel like the end of the world for the greedy...
how about we solve the lunacy of the concept here first...

I take it you don't live in New York...

Anyone good with statistics? Sounds to me like 49% is actually bad, I mean, 51% of the people in this study got cancer.
are a little too serious.

Thanks!
It's not theft if the original owner still has it.
I guess Australians don't have internet access yet...

That's ridiculous, a submarine can't burn, it's under water!
There's nothing wrong with believing in a higher power, but scientifically, there's no use either.
Mac OS X is Unix, and then there's virtualization, why even bother getting Linux native to a Mac anymore?
