well you're right. I mean, one party loses, but still has 50% control... and we wonder why nothing ever gets done.
It's time to make government more local and less global. Let the people decide how they want to exist.
And seriously, other than for profit, all this patent nonsense is holding the human race back. Innovation will most certainly continue even if patents cease to exist. It's called academia!

As a musician, I consider songs I've created as belonging more to me than the people who listen to them. If I want to remix or changed an old song and rerelease it, I will. The originals were still distributed so I'm not holding anything back. And if someone asked me to give him an older version of a track, I might not be inclined to do so, simply because my vision is the new version and that's all I can stand by.
If you don't like what Lucas is doing with the new versions, that's fine. He's no obligated to do or not do anything based on what you or anyone else wants.
Art in this case isn't just expression, it's hard work, long hours and massive investment. These are not things you can take lightly or ever hoped to be in control of unless you're the one making it all happen.
should we really be messing with mechanics we can't even pretend to understand yet? This sounds like an idea that could have catastrophic consequences.
What is Inevitable is all these self-ish, money hoarding and progress inhibiting ways going the way of the horse and carriage. How can we find a balance with our planet and with each other if our primary form of trade involves striving to screw everyone else out of their money?
A fax machine is tangible and it has a set number that for most situations refers to that specific fax machine based on where it is. The problem with email, other than security and privacy, is that it's generally associated with a person as opposed to a place, and people aren't as reliable as fax machines.
Option 1: Disable network connection. Now you can only hack yourself.
Option 2: Nuke the world; cockroaches can't hack. Nobody, no problem.

It'd be the least expensive colonoscopy you could ever possibly find in the US!
why can't people just stop allowing themselves to be tricked. Trust the internet like you'd trust any stranger and you'll be OK.

Pigs may not still be able to fly, but they are wireless!
They expect us to believe this won't be an issue? That's a stretch...
