Terrorism involves targeting non-combatives outside of a war effort.
So why are you not lambasting the US for dumping billions of dollars into Israel? If you want to talk about killing civilians, THAT is the place to start.
It is murder in the name of politics.
Sure, that's actually a very good way to describe terrorism, but it's exactly what we see the US funding in Israel every day, and really who blinks an eye at this point?
they analyze their first day traffic and see Slashdot as their number one referrer, Linux i386/i686 as their number one OS, and Mozilla/Gecko as the number one browser.
yes yes hug the nuke, but no it's not a great solution, and as soon as someone can tell me how we're going to make fusion work, I'll invest my life savings in them. There has actually been some renewed interest in moon based collection in actual scientific circles (read: go find Science and Nature), and the differeances in amount of energy collected by the same equipment on earth and in space, yes it's a long way off, and no it's not ready yet, but it is an interesting idea. and no we don't have an ample FEASIBLE supply here on earth for our ridiculously large population and it's "needs".
One thing to watch out for is that, this bonus, especially a large one like that, might bump people into the next tax bracket. This has hapened at a couple of places i ahve worked (before I got there), so if you can spare a few minutes, just make sure that this gift, plus salary, won't bumjp people up.
Personally I think the Gift CardAmex Card + Party is a great idea!
There are a number of 802.11b VoIP devices currently available on the market.
Cisco makes the 2920 but still requires Cisco call manager as a back end.
and one of the more affordibale and interesting products is the Pulver Innovations WiSIP Phone. (short for WiFi SIP).
As well as other products made by companys like Symblol
Between these and Asterisk, "The Open Source Linux PBX" (which works quite well btw) you can come up with great solutions, and some really neat applications.
The most interesting application I see, is the bluetooth/wifi/whatever is actually being adopted wireless protocol. Then allow the machines to unload threads ala the way MOSIX allows nodes to be added and removed, just need to figure a way around the master scheduler. Maybe each machine runs it's own scheduler.... more over head, anyway, just a really neat idea.
later we could perhaps have two or three media giants offering a broader spectrum (CNN Politics, CNN Music, CNN Sports)
But that's a BAD thing! This is exactly what we want to avoid. This is in fact one point of view, it's Time Warner's point of view, as a matter of fact.
CNN, MSNBC, and Fox, each having independant news channels is not duplication of effort, it is news from (at least in theory) three different perspectives. Each channel/media corp/etc has it's own slant on the news, getting different perspectives is a good thing, it allows for an educated citizenry.
How I pine for an Free clone of IDL, hopefully with less insane memory overhead
Jeez, don't we all, well those of us who have used it. I used to do satellite oceanography at uni, but have since moved to another institution, and no longer have access to IDL, so no more work on this unfortunately. IDL was a memory hog, and seemed to have either no or completely infantile memory mangagement. I would love an IDL clone. BuilderBob, what do you do that you got to feel the pain of IDL? -OZ

Most of Microsoft's power only exists in the minds of the paranoid.
Microsoft's power lies in the fact that everyone is accustomed to only thinking Microsoft. For so long it's been Windows XXX, HP would shoot themselves in the head if they stopped selling XP as an option on their line.
Well, yes, everything but the three-week bootstrap!
I can't wait til I can donate my $200 to Al Hamburg! and with only One-Click no less! Boy, a grumpy 72 year old man is just what this country needs!

I don't think so...
but some might view it as prior art!

It's not much, but at least provides a "look" at one of their products.

Can you elucidate on what you feel our "ample power supplies here on earth" are? Just Curious.
