    .. yeah, so when will they be programmed to not blind oncoming drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. So far, any improvement I've noted in headlight technology is wasted by the fact that none of the new headlights seem to be illuminating the road, instead we're getting an illumination arms races because headlights are making it hard for anyone (other traffic, travelling in opposite directions) to see where and what they're doing.

    I dunno, the HTML5 feature in my Chrome is so CPU intensive that html5 video stops & stutters constantly. I had to disable html5 in Chrome just to be able to use the utoobz HTML5 isn't old-hardware-friendly. Nevermind that Google keeps taking the useful (for me) features out of chrome.

    How smart is it to essentially Privatize Currency? Electronic money isn't handled by the people for the people, for public good. It's private global corporations using proprietary *everything*, with what's essentially a local exchange rate rate to you/me/us that's always to their own benefit. Electronic money is just trading power for convenience.

    But I like *real* books! You don't need any hardware in interface with them! You just read them! Why add levels of abstraction & complication to something, in a short-sighted attempt to *ahem* re-monetize them? You don't even own e-books, you just lease/rent them. This is really just an attempt to kill the used book market, as iTunes is an attempt to kill the physical recorded media market. They want to take away your ability to own *anything*.

    Well, it sure doesn't render worth a damn in my preferred browser (FF) and it eats so much CPU as to nearly freeze my computer. What's with all the scripts? Only renders correctly in Chrome, for me, and yet Chrome has so many functionality & layout design oddnesses that I hate to use it for anything other than utter necessity.

    So. Why do website such as slashdot need periodic redesigns? I certainly see nothing that was absolutely necessary. And now the pages look like sh!t.

    The theory that they are using is that the
    influence of gravity cannot penetrate a
    super-conducting object. The "only" thing
    that can completely block a magnetic field
    is a superconductor. So someone theorized
    that maybe a superconductor can block
    gravitons (if light can be either/both
    a particle and a wave, so can gravity).
    Also did you realize that the influence of
    gravity only travels at the speed of light?
    So if the rotating superconductor negates
    (or lessens) the influence of gravity *above*
    it, there will be a pressure differential between
    upper and lower surfaces, with net force being
    upwards (ie greater affect within an atmosphere)
    will be a pressure differential

    Hey, they're not GPS satellites, they're bankrupt
    communication satellites. Why would their
    positions be "super-critical" ? Downgrade the
    operational criteria, and donate control to some
    worthy group. OR do some real science with them.
    Hydrazine Thrusters? Put them into minimum energy
    trajectories to the permanently shadowed Lunar
    craters and watch the splash. With 66 successive
    events, you're going to determine (with good
    statistical probability) whether there's ice there
    or not. I'm sure some scientist could think of a
    use for a iridia (?) or two.

    If they're going to de-orbit them just because
    they went bankrupt and don't wan't anyone to
    possibly benefit from their bankruptcy, I'd
    call that being a dog in the manger. If I was
    them, with a anarchistic streak, I'd open the
    channels and the encryption and say "Have at it!",
    letting all and sundry have use of the band-width.
    Maybe then someone would realize their value!

    Lucas will release SW on DVD, but only after
    he re-edits it with more special effects and
    crap like that (even more so than the special
    editions). Fans will never see the originals
    on DVD, and from now on in Film History, Greedo
    shoots first, and misses.

    pre-TPM days someone from Lucasfilm saying
    that the new movies would be darker and more
    mature.

    PS one of the reasons I dislike
    the jar jar thing is that I could not understand
    what it was saying.
