I would argue that Sony's offer of repair services would be generous only if it was for free. With a fee, it's merely fair; the leak itself was mostly Sony's fault, so offering repairs to people who screwed up their PSPs with this patch would only be expected.

The Strangerhood is much weaker than Red vs. Blue, mainly because the voice actors have to adapt their lines to the mouth movements and actions of the avatars. It just doesn't flow smoothly, kind of like a badly-dubbed martial arts movie. (The storyline also hasn't gotten anywhere yet, but that's probably not a problem with the engine they're using.)

Even with The Strangerhood being as weak as it is, though, this idea that EA's come up with is far, far worse.

When I read a review, I look for information: What is the game about? What genre is it? What control system and/or interface does it use? If it's a PC game, what are its specs? Anything outside of that type of information basically gets ignored.

The meaning of a word in the past isn't really relevant to the meaning that word has today. In general, people think of sports as requiring physical exertion; therefore, that would be a criterion for the common definition of the word. Pedantry isn't going to change this fact. It's doubtful that simply calling video gaming a sport will either, since we already have a word for that type of activity, and it's right there in the name of it.

Physical activity? Yes. Using a controller or keyboard mouse is physical.

That's just silly. By that logic, most corporate jobs would be sports. By "physical activity," the definition refers to activities which are primarily physical (take a look at the second definition for clarification). Video games certainly are not.

From a interview with the lead developer by Gamespot. If you have any newer information, please let us know. Besides, if Fallout 3 is first-person, at most it would be as much of a shooter as System Shock was. You are implying that they aren't really playing their own games are you not? Because Milli Vanilli and the Backstreet Boys lipsync their performances? What other analogy could there be there?

While Milli Vanilli was indeed fake, the Backstreet Boys is a group of five talented singers (even if you don't like their music, you have to admit this) who were artifically brought together by corporate interests to appeal to the teeniebopper market. I think that was the main point that he was trying to make.

BTW, I have to wonder how much of their impressive win rate has to do with the unwashed nerds that they're playing against hyperventilating and screaming "OMG GURLZ!!!" How many games do they play where the opponents can't see each other?

Heck, that doesn't even matter, if you question whether or not they have anything to do with girls in gaming, you are directly saying they aren't gamers at all.

Not necessarily. I think it would be valid to suggest that the media (as well as the aforementioned corporate interests) isn't interested in this group because it's an example of girls in gaming, but because it's an example of hot girls in gaming. In other words, this doesn't really have anything to do with gamer girls in general.
