I had the same experience. But I'm sure that if I just leave my PC on for a few more days (going on 2 months now) Vista will finish whatever it's doing and settle down. You know how kids are...
Hibernation in Windows XP is fine.
Except my keyboard goes dead after the PC wakes up, and I have to restart.
But aside from this crippling flaw, it's great.
I read his Infinity Concerto and found it extremely dull, overly metaphysical, and hard to finish. Strange considering that another novel of his, Legacy, was totally engrossing, and is among my favourite science fiction books ever.
If I get this from Windows Update, is it going to go all "Windows Genuine Advantage" on me?
Inquiring minds, just, um, want to know. Purely out of curiosity...
You're right, though Dapper has improved this somewhat. You still have to edit the repositories to get the goodies, but it can be done by clicking a few checkboxes within Synaptic. (No need to add brand-new sources or edit the config file by hand).
However, in order to get Flash player working for Firefox, I had to manually install it into/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/. And I don't know if I've ever gotten the Acrobat plugin working properly...
I could hammer my Apple and monitor and it'll work just fine, while my modern TFT may pop a dead pixel just if I look it in a strange way.
My friend used to own a wonky Mac classic. Every so often, the screen would go dark, and only 5 or 6 well-placed strikes with a hammer (always kept nearby) could encourage it to turn back on.
All things considered, it lasted longer than you'd think.
JavaScript is great, as long as you make sure they're testing it on a non-IE browser. Not only are Internet Explorer's error descriptions unhelpful ("object expected"!), but in my experience, even the line numbers are often incorrect.
Firefox has a great JS console with a log of recent errors, rather than a nasty modal window that pops up every time something goes wrong. And if your students are ever doing a DHTML project, the DOM inspector is a godsend.
Swear words are mostly used in sentences as replacement for more complex words or sentence structures.
Swearing allows an enormous amount of possibility for complex, creative sentence structures, and a fair bit of humour as well. There are rare people out there who have truly mastered the art of profanity, and they deserve our respect.
Yeah, he had the right idea, but was off a bit. Links from friends open in the default browser, but links to MSN Spaces (ie. the stuff on people's "contact cards") always open in IE.
Hey, I don't care if it looks like a clone of Doom 3, as long as it sucks less.
Specifically, I want support for CSS2 selectors (so I don't have to keep hacking my pages to work for IE), and protection against browser hijacking (CoolWebSearch, etc.), so I don't have to keep fixing my family and friends' PCs. I'd also appreciate proper support for the <button> tag.
So Microsoft feels they need to play catch-up. Good. Maybe we'll get a decent browser out of them after all.
Don't the GameCube discs have a capacity of 1.5GB, or something like that? Even if Super Mario Sunshine only uses half the disc, that's still a lot to download.
Although prisoners Internet access is highly restricted...
The Internet access belongs (or doesn't) to the prisoners, so there ought to be an apostrophe in that sentence. The word "prisoners" is plural and ends in 's', so the apostrophe should be at the end. i.e.:
Although prisoners' Internet access is highly restricted...

What is the IP, for God's sake??

Where are the screenshots??

You misspelled "Konsistent".
Thanks for clearing that up.

Now maybe a "Google is dying" troll can finally get off the ground.
Well, I think I'm about ready to uncheck the "Apple" category from Homepage now...
Is Mork to blame for the unscalability? This guy says yes...

That ogg file crashes Winamp. Anybody have another copy?
CBC Television has advertisements (though it didn't always, if I recall correctly). CBC Radio does not have ads.

I'll bite. What the hell does this have to do with the Conservative party? Isn't it just an appeal in federal court?
Is that link you provided a joke? DJ Spooky and John Waters (director of Pink Flamingos, Serial Mom) are faculty members?
I'm for a split Rick Santorum and Robert C. Byrd ticket. Now there's something we can all get behind!
