At least the local shop has no problem building me a XP box. New laptop last week was offered with either Vista-sucky edition or XP-home or an upgrade to XP-Pro. Salesman laptop died and i got a new one built in 4 hrs:)
Even comes with a windows CD. Of course the multiple choice OS means they usually load one up by hand so some settings can be a bit inconsistent, but i change most of it anyways.
I don't know about the others but mine is a cheapie from 7-11. $50 phone and the refill ($25 min?) is good for a year and i think rolls over on refill. Per-minute charges are pretty high but it is only an emergency/vacation phone. Being that it is now a couple years old i am surely under even the $10/month guy above:)
Had no problems using it at the beach (400 miles west) or the amusement park (50 miles east, next state)
Branded as Speak-out something or other. No idea whose network they use.
Just to be sure when you go to a demonstration that your buddy is big enough to hide behind....
Hmm, I should start selling mylar umbrellas to WTO protesters perhaps?
I wonder if mylar or somesuch is enough. Everyone bring a bunch of balloons and pass them up front, maybe everyone gets arrested for bringing the pres a balloon bouquet;)
Oh well, at least they'll give the rock throwers something to aim at besides storefronts so it IS useful...
"Assuming the lawsuit is successful, they'll just roll the $7 fee into the base price for ALL of their plans. So my $20/mo plan will become a $26.95/mo plan. Big whoop."
That is the idea yes.
Did you get the plan on price? You would not know your $20 plan costs more than my $25 plan until you sign on for a year or two!
I am trying to compare phone companies for work. It is impossible to know how much it will cost without signing up. Land or cell:(
Is $25.00 per month and $.07 per minute better or worse than $15.00 per month and $.08 per minute? No matter how much math you throw at it you can't tell because they tack on too many fake fees mixed in the real taxes. XO adds a minimum of 10% on the the bottom of the bill up to 24% if your a little guy:/ The other company seems to charge more in sales tax than i can find taxable plus several questionable 'fees'. Repeat for multiple techniques for each company:(
PS: so far XO is the worst on under-the-line fees plus they flat-out lied to me when asked about one.
We actually run a copy of one of the SCO Unix versions. Bought thru a 3rd party supplier of our entire system. In 3 years now neither has ever mentioned the product again....
It is good from our end to have a product that simply works(albeit in a simple app) and you are never bothered by the supplier again for updates or to buy more. On the other hand the supplier should probably sell something every now and then...
"Then there's the whole issue of, WHO USES CD'S ANYMORE????"
Umm, me for one i am simply not into MP3s or digital music. But that is the whole problem i am NOT changing CDs for a song or 2 or even 3! If i want to change discs every 10 min i have lots of vinyl, even they go more than 10 min.
The inconvience of vinyl and the production cost of Digital:(
Our medicare billing program sucks as do most of the packages. You still end up paying ongoing 'license' fees to keep it turned on.
An online one is looking like a possibly. They get to hold your data hostage, etc.
However...
It seems to be one of the only packages that has everything up to date and works with all 3 states we need. SAS seems ok if there are a zillion things that need to stay updated on a regular basis. If we cant use part then they won't get paid for that part. Current package have to argue to get partial refund etc:(
Upfront cost,up to 5 figures for 10 people + monthly maint fees:/ vs Per-Page fees
My best guess is that it is too close to call cost-wise.
hmmm, 146 buttons and 88 knobs on my stereo system makes me wonder if i have one;)
Or can i fake it by adding/subtracting dolby or mpx or something? Wonder what terms might apply. I do actually use it to make mix tapes (including 8-tracks, no less) for older cars.
I started wondering what you have to turn off to get the windows box pwned....
hehe, turn down the firewall (is that even a required step?) and start testing free cursors/themes/screensavers til you find something that feels like your old system...throw in some free porn...probably want to skip the hacked programs tho!
MY think-tank says P2P downloading has increased the potential earnings of the music industry by 9.3 trillion dollars!
Only catch is catching every downloader and getting the full statutory value from every song;) The odds on this seem comparable to the odds of getting paid for every single download, so ours is just as accurate as theirs.
There is that elusive missing step before profit, usually involving WORK:(
Sounds like have MUCH more to gain than they lose so you are helping them!!:)
Why do think-tanks always seem more tank than think?
lol, i promised not to give the cable co any money after trying cable internet and getting a 12K speed test... 8 years and counting:)
I decided a couple years back i might get cable if i saw an ad that actually said how much it costs...they don't. 6 months is not relevant if i will have it for years and years. Even one telemarketer couldn't tell me what if would cost after the promo.
Just not worth the $55+extras it takes to get to a tier i would want. All i really want is SciFi (duh) and Speed (to get something besides nascar or the occasional condensed race they show on network)
Between OTA, netflix, and trading DVDs with a friend i have plenty to watch.
So glad i haven't got into the HD scene yet, still letting them sort it all out:)
Anyone else plug the six-million dollar man into an inflation calculator and scare themselves;) If you back up a year or two to the book it is spot on:)
I work at a medical supply warehouse. We sell virtually NO antimicrobial soaps currently. It is either a fairly mild shampoo/bodywash (with or without conditioners) for patients or it is alcohol gel for the professionals. Most of our vendors have in fact discontinued them in professional packaging due to low sales. We used to sell a fair amount of Dial liquid but don't even order from them anymore.
In fact, doing this quick walkthru just now i had to pull 2 of the 3 cases of antimicrobials as they outdated on the shelf ! There is about 15 cases of alcohol gels and several dozen cases of shampoo/bodywash in various brands and sizes for comparison. The liquid handsoap (either type) has all but disappeared from our stock.
The professional market has certainly moved to the far ends of the spectrum.
Personally i use the shampoo/bodywash for my "soap" and it alternates as my shampoo. Unfortunately most consumer bodywash products are extremely overpriced. Pretty unfamiliar with whats available at store s lately as i get it here at wholesale but you guys seem to be covering that:)
As for the alcohol gels drying the hands, it does vary by brand. The cheapest with no additives is pretty harsh, while Purel and others usually add something to counteract that in varying degrees.
That was an interesting diversion and almost work-related;)
Just assume that there are minor losses in transit that don't affect communications but they don't want a few missing pieces of you;)
Afterall they DO have garbled or fuzzy video links sometimes don't they? Error correction on a picture phone must be easier than on a 3D living organism.
Or maybe doing so would go over their monthly bandwidth cap;)
They bought the same fan controller i did with the LED indicator lights eh? I knew there had to be another use for this besides putting in my desktop to blind ME...
Following the stories back to the actual press release to answer myself....
* Other consists of any other console systems found in the home, such as vSmile, Sega, FC Twin video system, Game Wave Family Entertainment System, etc.
Sega and the unknowns combined for more than the 3 next-gen consoles combined. Looks like Sega/NES/SNES combined for about the same as the next Gen consoles (the FC twin is NES/SNES). I think Nintendo got a sneak peak before they announced their non-hardcore strategy. If those numbers are even close i would have to agree.
Worst company killer is Symantec without a doubt. Everything goes in but nothing comes back out:( At least MS usually buys someone out cause they want something instead of simply to keep you from getting something from the other guys:/
I think they scored 2 on this list alone. Including my beloved Central Point tools (which i still use on my 386) altho i could use an update to the antivirus...
My addition: Wang (I have our old 2200 and a PC) wonderful stuff but late to upgrade and when the PC came out they tried to keep it propriatary like all the heavy iron. Their PC was actually quite good but only ran their own programs:(
hehe, i still have working versions of: Central point tools, wordperfect, the deskview stuff, and something else on list i think:)
If they get that to work out someone point them toward WA and a litter tax that no longer addresses the litter issue the law says it is supposed to be addressing..... we now have a litter tax that exempts fast food joints WTF ?!?
Good luck with that although it sounds good. A boss that understands what their employees are actually doing would be a good idea.

The one-line teaser on the front page of todays paper was a better recap than the Slashdot summary :(
Why are our headlines and summaries so bad here?
Does anyone else get most of this in the morning paper also or do they do a better than average job locally?

HEHE, just because you could pop-up ads during a game doesn't mean you could sell any product....
:O
I would be surprised if it wasn't a net loss pissing off more than they gain...hey look MS invented the anti-ad
They plan to sell the ads to Sony and Apple!

How do we know the balls are not purple and the observer is wearing rose colored glasses?
If i understand any of it, it doesn't sound like it is at all useful. And all those 'at a distance' numbers seem awfully small at the moment anyways.
I agree with below, the whole thing gives me a headache...let's go play pool.
We are almost ready to try it :(

I wonder if video games based on William Shakespeare's works would be too violent.....Would make a great headline to get an AO rating ;)
;)
Just have to make sure that Romeo and/or Juliet die before they...well we can't go there can we
Meanwhile back to adding the Big Bad Wolf mod to my architectural drafting program...at least that one is still safe.

It says they track on 6 consoles. From the second link adding up the percents comes to less than 79%.
Are 21% of them playing on the Phantom or something?
Was interesting that the last gen console beat out its new counterpart in each case tho.
