My wife's grandfather lives in Vancouver B.C. She just went up there to say 'goodbye' to him. Seems he has a bad heart, and the doctors misdiagnosed / didn't bother to tell him that he needed an angioplasty about 8 months ago when the chest pains and dizziness started. Now it's too late, inoperable. Who pays? Her grandfather, as you can't sue the doctor in Canada, right? There's UHC for you.

I had to get a business line for my FiOS, but that was because I also got 5 statics.

Back on topic, Verizon apparently cannot figure out how to shoot light at a stationary target, yet can hit a moving target with their TV offering.

I ordered FiOS TV as soon as it was available here in Tampa Bay, FL. Was going to be cheaper than DirecTV and with more channels. I received a call about two days before the install telling me that unless I went to DHCP instead of static, I'd have to pay for ANOTHER ONT to have TV squirted into my house.

Ever wonder why canabalism is considered so bad, why Jewish rules forbid pork, and why the saturated fats from pork products are so bad for humans? I've wondered that if human meat tastes like pork, and since humans and pigs are anatomically/physiologically close to each other one of the reasons canabalism is so horrible is that the ingestion of human meat is at least as bad or worse than pork.

    Disgusting Food for Thought.

Disclaimer:) I do like bacon, prosciutto and chinese pork/chicken sausages. After thinking about the above though, I do try to limit the amount of pork that my family eats.

    I so agree with you.

I haven't worked in corp-world for some time (thank the-higher-consciousness) but I remember the row I caused in my last corporate job.

Smoking in buildings here in Florida, USA was outlawed some time ago. When I worked at this one company as a tech support monkey I'd have to constantly be going into and out of three buildings. Invariably there were the same people camped outside the doors of each building, smoking it up. I chewed tobacco at the time, and having been fed up with walking through clouds of smoke all day long, I took up spitting tobacco juice at the feet (or as near as I could without being a total ass) of said smokers while standing outside with them. Naturally, this got to HR (not to mention the arguments with the smokers and others) and I was brought up on the carpet. My argument that they were actually doing worse to me and others by exhaling smoke which had been in their lungs, which the rest of us didn't have a choice of not inhaling since we had to walk through that area, and didn't compare to my never actually hitting anyone with my disgusting juice didn't fly.

It made my point though :)

While I agree that a ton of people use the darn things in the dumbest places (grocery store, mall, etc.) I have to state again that my bluetooth headset is almost the most important piece of technology I use every day. I just hope it doesn't bite me in the ass years down the road when scientists discover that its radio signals are causing cancer on that side of the head.

I drive through 3 counties about 3 days a week visiting clients and fixing network/software/hardware issues, logging ~90 miles a day. Frequently I'm speaking with clients while driving, or the office. Being able to push one button and say 'Call so-n-so', without ever looking away from the road is well worth the 100bux spent on the HS. How many people do you see driving holding a phone and sometimes a drink and not paying a bit of attention to what is going on around them? Usually in those f'ing H2's or Navigators.

Additionally, when I'm onsite, it may look strange, and I do get smart-assed comments every so often, I usually wear the HS. This frees up my hands to do whatever I'm working on and allows me to talk to the boss or other support people.

Once I'm done with work and am heading into a grocery store/bar/anyplace where I don't want to use a phone, I leave the BT HS in the truck.

I'd rather look like a cheap borg imitation than hold that brick of a phone (i730) up to my head all the time, and using the wired HS just sux (except for the MP3s and streaming radio/TV)

I've been in the I.T. field since it was a subset of I.S. At one job I had to support over 200 Macs at ValPak DMS (although I tried to slip those tickets to the Mac gurus in the dept. whenever possible). Vowed never to touch one if I could help it.

Just about 3 months ago I bought a friend's G4 Quicksilver running 10.4.6 . I think it's pretty cool, am having fun relearning an OS. Other than that though, I haven't the foggiest idea of what to do with it. Samba's setup and hooked into the 2003 AD domain, I've installed a ton of fun widgets, but other than that.... Windows unfortunately as my main OS for gaming, multiple Linux installs on various machines including my dual-boot laptop, and they all have dedicated purposes - Myth - with Samba sharing out all the multimedia :), OESSP2, GW7, FreeRadius, Apache, Asterisk w/AMP, etc.

Driving home after picking up the rig (came with a sweet NEC Diamondtron 20" FP2141sb) I kept looking into my backseat and just kept shaking my head.

Now that I have one, what the fsck do I do with it?!
