Do white people have a right to live anywhere at all?
Same rights as everyone else. So if the white folks find someplace nice, others will find it too. I guess white people who want to live by themselves need to find someplace really shitty that no one else wants.
You obviously believe that if non-whites are unable to FORCE themselves into white people's countries
The two largest groups at issue here:
Africans. Didn't 'force' their way here. Hell, they didn't even want to get on the boats.
Hispanics: Were here first. White people moved the border.
Porsche still offers manuals. And what you get with a Ferrari or Lamborghini is a DCT (dual clutch transmission) with paddle shifters. Still a manual.
And most cars other than real econo-boxes that do have automatics include a manual shift mode. So the driver is still in charge of shift points. I guess people just looked at those emission penalties and told the EPA to go suck an egg.
... for the RIAA. The ability to sample and identify music has existed for years. It is used by the RIAA to sample radio broadcasts and enforce fee collection. But until now, it has been difficult to conduct this same level of surveillance on businesses like bars, restaurants and shops that play background music. And owe fees for doing so. But now, install the phone Shazam app and collect location data and the money will roll in.
It's just a shame they don't pay the phone users a cut of the take.
I have a Landcruiser that has 'adaptive' shifting. A button I press in for power and out for economy. Want to hear something worse? Everything else I own is a stick. So I shift when I damned well please.

and the online bullies you also see every day at school
So what? First rule: We don't tolerate physical violence. Period. So no matter what someone says, it won't go further than words.
I know. That's not the way the world works today. But that's what we have to change. Not the speech part. Bullies resort to violence? They get expelled and maybe go to prison. School administrators and law enforcement don't enforce a zero tolerance policy? They lose their jobs. Forever.
School is a safe place where you get to learn these lessons. Because if the bullies don't learn them, when they reach adulthood and try to beat someone, they'll get shot. Suddenly, everyone is equal.
How so? In person it is to the extent that a bully an exploit your fear of physical violence to affect your behavior. On line, not so much. What is there to be afraid of? It's only ones and zeros and every four-eyed 90 pound weakling can stand up to the best of them.
Well yes. The sarcasm is obvious. But perhaps the down-mod came from people who recognized it as a snarky comment and seriously think that we should be banning free speech. And this was a comment that should be pushed below the visibility threshold.
These are scary times that we live in. Today its just mod points. Tomorrow the van will be around to your house.
When the government decides to come after our rights, they won't do so directly. The UCMJ requires that all troops must disobey illegal orders, so there won't be a standoff between the public and troops. What will happen is that the politicians will decide to have the local cops 'stand down' in the face of political unrest. They will retreat to protect city hall and the precincts and let rioters attack targets of their discontent. And the rest of us will be left to fend for ourselves.
Sun meant one thing by 'open source'. Oracle has a different interpretation. And I can never tell with them if they plan on allowing an acquisition to flourish independently, die from inattention, take it out behind the barn and shoot it in the head, or morph it into something unrecognizable to suit hidden agendas.
One would think that a company finding that one of their products' market has grown immensely would be happy. And they would research the reasons why it grew into that market and work to protect and promote those attributes. But no. Not Oracle. They seem to be intent on making Android/Google regret the day they went with Java. "This will teach those stinking customers never to choose our products again!"
Oracle got its start building systems for the government. Specifically, the NSA and other similar TLAs. So it should be no surprise that they are always up to something devious and underhanded. Old habits die hard. Openness is anathema to these kinds of outfits. And I'd be very careful about building a product or system on top of something owned by Oracle where I didn't have a clear exit strategy or plan B.
So for an advanced civilization to find us and make contact,
The movie does raise some interesting questions. How exactly would we go about communicating with an alien race that appeared on Earth? Or caused some instrumentality of communications to appear (much more likely we'd get an automated probe)?
Perhaps a hand raised with palm facing forward is an intergalactic sign of hostility and the middle finger extended indicates friendship. How would one go about establishing a common basis for communication? I'm not sure this movie went about it logically. The movie 'Contact' demonstrates a more plausible approach, although one constrained by one way communications. Full duplex presents some opportunists. But also some problems in that the aliens might figure that we are morons if we take too long to answer. Broadcasting 'Hello' continuously in every language at full power might also backfire if the aliens have autistic tendencies.
What I wonder is whether some (federally funded) research has already been done to prepare a 'first contact' handbook. Chapter One: Fly a helicopter in the middle of the night to the residence of a noted linguist (with no advance phone call or anything), scaring the shit out of him/her.
Alien beings from a highly advanced society visit the Earth, and you are the first human they encounter. As a token of intergalactic friendship, they present you with a small but incredibly sophisticated device that is capable of curing all disease, providing an infinite supply of clean energy, wiping out hunger and poverty, and permanently eliminating oppression and violence all over the entire Earth. You decide to:
a. Present it to the president of the United States
b. Present it to the secretary general of the United Nations
c. Take it apart

We have now demonstrated: A mathematician is a machine for converting theorems into coffee.

Neither does listening closely, if you happen to be both deaf and blind.
If the sound generator simulates a 442 Hemi V8 with the proper db level, even the deaf should be able to feel it approaching.

too busy being a stereotypical father?
From Dave Barry's 'Guy Test':
Alien beings from a highly advanced society visit the Earth, and you are the first human they encounter. As a token of intergalactic friendship, they present you with a small but incredibly sophisticated device that is capable of curing all disease, providing an infinite supply of clean energy, wiping out hunger and poverty, and permanently eliminating oppression and violence all over the entire Earth. So, the movie was quite realistic IMO.
