But, really, this is just a half-step towards taking the money via taxes and ensuring that everybody has access to a proper education.
Oh, no! We can't have that. Fully funded educations imply the existence of some single payer who will review the status of various educational institutions and cut off the crappy diploma mills. There goes a profit opportunity for some shifty investors. Not to mention the very secure (not dischargable by bankruptcy) source of debt available for CDO investors.
The entire student loan industry is built on profits for the institutions pumped up by demand pull inflation plus a source of debt for which the rich can clip coupons.
So if I run up 20 or 30K$ in debt for my liberal arts degree and the only job I have available is as a barista, I still have to pay?
On the other hand, with my software engineering degree in hand, I go to work for a startup. And agree to take minimum wage (not a "good salary") plus an equity stake a few years down the road.
If you are true to veganism, then why would you want to duplicate the taste of meat? I'm an omnivore and still love the taste of a good salad, apple, peas, nuts, etc. Absolutely nothing wrong with the wide range of flavors available with actual veggies.
There was a test where fighter pilots could describe a photograph displayed for a single frame at 255 frames per second.
Against what background? This is actually a good demonstration of persistence of vision. The longer the afterimage lasts, the longer the brain has to study it. And the slower a frame rate needs to be to eliminate flicker.
Even better: As of 1996 (I think), legislation changed the ownership of subscriber metadata from the customer to the telecom. It's not your data anymore, so just get over yourself.
Undetectable by humans due to the physiology of vision. Yeah, some autist is going to step through the video frames one at a time and sperg out about the quality. But for the rest of us, not really.
OK. So much for the rural wilderness parks. They will survive, much as they did before they were turned into interstates through the forest with fast food joints at the viewpoints. But there are a lot of 'parks' in urban areas. And many of these facilities cannot be protected from being overrun by less than desirable visitors (i.e. homeless bums pitching tents and scattering needles).
modern machines with anti-roll, traction controlled, ABS, collision avoidance, curtain airbagged modern marvels.
Wait a minute! These are French cars we're talking about.

But not entirely by you.
This is why that inexpensive Samsung phone has a Facebook app icon that you can not delete.
Is it possible for an aircraft carrier to dock at a port in Capetown?
No. They may have to stop in Cape Town.
If there is no cell signal, how are the "lost phones" able to send back their location to the user?
Not my problem.
That seems like fairly thin gruel for Slashdot's "U.S. sux" article du jour.
You seem to have ignored the broad distribution of blame for this situation and homed in on what appears to be the apparent centroid of the problem.
And China with Huawei, ZTE, etc. It's pretty much SOP wherever you go. So just learn to live with it.
As a member of the Five Eyes? Who are they trying to fool?
"I am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here."

And that's not natural gas (aside from a tiny part of local trucking biz).
Well, this.

Of course hard core gamers will probably want to see all the requisite benchmarks.
Of course. They can't even see 240 Hz. So how will they know whether to complain about the refresh rate or not.
Nobody is going to steal a package out of that.
