    Smoking dope makes you stupid (at least while you are high). Drinking makes you stupid (at least while you are drunk). Etc, etc. If you can admit this and 'get stupid' occasionally, no problem. But when people start to justify some drug's use as being beneficial, mind opening concious raising, etc. that's the addiction talking. Time to stop and check into NA or AA.

    I think this is correct. But I believe that the problem here is that the FBI is expecting a foreign government to comply with one of its national security letters. In other words, no courts, no warrants.

    As to whether Microsoft Ireland is a seperate legal entity in the eyes of the Irish legal system, that's an issue for Irish law as well. In the USA, a US subsidiary of a foreign parent is expected to comply with US law.

    Are you certain? Isn't it possible that Microsoft Ireland is a separate corporate entity from Microsoft USA?

    This is something that every manager should be aware of: subordinates promotions, salary increases, job functions, etc. So now an important function of management is being replaced by a small shell script.

    This will be the basis of my algorithm for timing a divestiture from a corportion. When the boss' function can be replaced by a laptop.

    Panic ensues. Among the bureaucrats, that is. It is beginning to look like carbon emissions and the resulting temperature rise are becoming uncoupled from economic activity. GNP is going up while emissions remain flat. Natural gas is replacing coal. The Chinese are getting fed up with smog in Beijing. Gas consumption is flat while people drive more and Big Oil can't keep the prices propped up. Etc, etc. And the big government looters have missed the bus. It has all been done by the free market. So the justification for Big Government programs is disappearing. And these people might have to go out and get real jobs.

    How will you know that the binary you are running came from the source you examined?

    anyone will bother reading through the complete code.

    People don't really 'read' through code to find exploits anymore. There are some capable analysis tools that do most of the grunt work.

    I wouldn't want my car to have the initials of its makers written all over the car body.

    How about the dealership's name? License plate brackets can be removed. But some of the decals they use can take paint with them if you try to remove them.
