Ok, with that said, I dont play Animal Crossing anymore, because it got boring after the 3 month period playing it against my roommate.
PS: When I kept finding those fossel fish... oh HELL YEAH! Pay day!
I don't really know what to say about this article. Whether or not this is a good or bad thing, this is left to be seen when something is available to be seen. However, if my memory serves me right, the Dark Crystal wasn't all that good. BUT!!!! I did like it. I enjoyed the fantasy of the story, but due to the fact I didn't get to see it until 4 years ago, thanks to modern unimaginative CG movies we have these days, I personally didn't get all to into the movie.
I can say in my defense is that I am more of a SciFi person above all else. Should this have a sequel? NO! Because this movie ended well. Should the Hensen productions allow this to happen, sure why not.
I just hope that quality and the story line doesn't get all screwed up due to the massive change is direction of the director.
I've done it before... I would hide a bottle of Southern Confirt, or Jack inside my case. Thumb screws are awesome, two screws and you have access to your warm delight. Many times its safe to place a bottle in, but you either need a completely unmodded case, or lay the bottle down on its side, so that is under the video card.
But then again, I knew one guy at the computer shop, he didn't think about the window on the side of his case, being a dead giveaway. I had to stop hiding my stashes once he got caught.
Computers/customers tend to drive you to drink. From now on I hide my bottle of jack behind the dictionary! (No one ever looks behind the dictionary!)
And they are damn good pilots. Wasn't there one recently sponsored by RedBull? Flying through/between objects at high speed, takes huge balls!, of which if I had the nerves those guys have, I would do so myself.
But I prefer to fly giant robots in space. At least the odds of hitting something is reduced.
just wait and see, Some music artist is going to give his genetic code to this database. Once torrenting becomes the method of open code surfing, the MPAA/RIAA will be knocking at ours doors.
Sure no problem, what I have had my staff and I work on for the past few years is, once you have applied the patch, your Windows operating system will reboot for you. This isn't really new technology, its a feature that has been requested by most if not all Windows Users.
Please rest assured that your Windows will reboot FOR you, after a said amount of time. You know because you've applied a patch it doesn't mean a BSOD reboot wont happen in 5..4..3..2..

yup I'm a/.er because of bad grammar, and the inability to see I mistyped 200+ servers when it should have been 100+ servers, and a few other keywords as well.
I used to work for a company of which we had about 200+ servers. When it comes to the business level of support companies like Dell offer superb support. I actually leave it to the idea that when you are calling from a company that has 100+ servers bought through Dell. The Dell support system usually expect the person calling to be technically inclined. I can't say the same for regular computer users.
The reason behind the better support (including the American voices over foreign) Is because Business is where the actually money is. You support business, customers see businesses running said equipment, and then the customer opinion believes that if a company gets great support, then the home user is going to get the same.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 5150 recently, I even got the extended warranty(3yr). I called to 'test' the support center, and surprisingly (only because I know how to work the damn phone systems) I got a half intelligent human being. (non-American) But at least able to answer slightly technical questions, off the top of their head. (I take it, that said person has been working in support for awhile)
I also have my company laptop Dell Latitude X1, with the standard 1 year warranty. When I call, I immediately get a voice, and its American. We go through the usual troubleshooting questions (altought I made up the problem off the top of my head) But once we angled out that I am a technically inclined/.er, its right down to business.
I maintained about 1500 workstations, and 100+ servers for a tax company, and when it came to getting a replacement HDD, or parts, it was as simple as sending an email. Once we got past that phone call situation for Ident purposes we finally got to the point of registering all 1500+100 machines on the support site. (as an ass, I registered everything under my personal Dell premier account) I quit my job last week, because people in management with Zero experience need not be my boss.
We've heard this over and over.. "Dell is thinking about using AMD." ok stop thinking already.
If per say, Dell finally uses AMD, I would suggest for them to start with their gaming line of desktops/notebooks. Where else would you gain a large customer base, than loves AMD, and with the image of Dell supporting AMD gaming workstations. Putting AMD and Dell together for all of their computers is a bad idea. (opinion)
However putting AMD with Dell Gaming machines will generally appeal to the gamer market, to which people are consistantly hounding for. If Dell finally goes AMD, it should be for the gamer line of machines.
Well if this is the case, then I feel I don't want to see the little black box of any of the mice that was eaten by my pacman frog. Just by knowing the mouse is gonna die a horrible death, is what makes me not watch.
Plus I certainly don't want to look for the remains.
I for one will second your comment. I am of that same age of the Nintendo generation. However, I was not always left to the babysitter named TV. I personally say that my interaction was with other kids of my age. When I played GI Joe, or played with the Nintendo, I had some sort of human interaction. What I have noticed with two entirely different sets of parents is that;
The first set, has the idea that being with their kid, interacting, teaching, playing, being with their kid almost 24/7 helps the mind and relationship growth. Which I honestly can say, I see positive results. The child is now 18 months old, but the child knows how to turn a computer on, move the mouse, and generally imitate what the parents do with the computer. I see insipration, and this child is going to grow up better than most. (my opinion)
The second set, has the idea that leaving the kid in front of the TV while one parent works 24/7 and the 'mother' plays with the computer (chat, myspace, chat, Oh did I mention myspace). The kid sits in front of the TV watching the usual NickToons, and morning kids shows. At most the mother feeds, changes, and MOST CASES leaves the kid unattended. This kid is about 2 years old, yet I see the lack of comprehension, attention span, or any of the intelligent signs of this kid becomming the next President.
(now back to me) My parents (at least my mother) was always involved with what I do. Up until I reach the age of reasoning, of which I became that 'individual minded' teen, which I took things apart, figured out how it works, then attempted to put it back together. I was always encouraged to do things to the best of my ability. To this day, I can not be without a job, because I have such broad skillsets.
I hate to read, but that has always been my personal dislike, I can read a 300 page book in a day, but I still hate to read. My parents read to me when I was a child.
I see social interaction with other 'kill all humans' as a bad thing. (kill all humans as in computers, or technology) As a means technology should be known as a method of improving the ability to educate. Not as a replacement to education.

Why should i bolt for a new fancy mouse, when I can just my current one appart, and superglue a few pennys or nickels inside?
Most standard wired mice have enough room underneith the palm side of the mouse that you can just take the one screw that holds the mouse together, and then mount a roll of coins, or weights.
This mouse sounds nifty for the average hardcore gamer (your above average hardcore gamer will still insist on the ole personally made setup)
I actually took my wireless Logitech mouse apart and superglued a metal tab above the double a batteries. Does me fine.

One thing comes to mind, has anyone ever heard of a plane crash, when it just got fixed for something? I see and hear of more planes crashing due to malfunction that was overlooked, or never worked on.
Now I would be beside myself if the flight attendant informed me that flight 666, has had 400 successful flights, and only 5k in repairs due to misc issues. But just yesterday we got a new engine!
The last flight I was on was grounded for an extra hour because one of the ground crews found that there was something wrong with a hydralic pressure thingy. took them an hour to fix it(I didn't mind the wait, my laptop w/ UT2k4 kept me entertained, along with the other two people sitting next to me. When it comes to my safety/life, they can take all their time).
skimming through the article's website, and noticing the whole jet airplane built. One thing came to mind. "If that jet can be made in 6 minutes, then I won't be stepping on one of those." oh and "What is the class number, and make of that jet, so I know which one to NEVER get in."
I run, AVG Free, MSAntiSpyware (I know, I know...), Sygate firewall FREE, and use logical email attachment & downloading guidelines. I have been virus free for over 4 years straight.
Now if only Maxtor & Hitachi HDDs didn't like to belly up on me on a yearly basis.
Although I don't agree with your opinion about AVG, I do agree to all your alternative solutions you mentioned. I've been using all 4 (at the same time mind you....) and I have never received an email with a virus attached that I've opened and gotten a virus with all those installed.
Now the getcha point is when I send email, everyone else tells me I'm sending viruses. Sheesh when will people learn, that what I send them is crap anyways.
Ok, the real reply. I do like your list of alternatives, and I seriously would add AVG to the list, AVG works great, and I recommend it to all my customers. Although I do carry a copy of each of the other, I just find AVG simpler for the average home user.
I have repaired over 75 LCD monitors, either desktop or notebook LCDs, and it is safe to say.... it is not difficult to for a DIY'fer. Dell LCDs tend to be simple, but you gotta pay attention to those snag points. (snag points tend to have a screw that you failed to take out, and end up breaking the chasis, or cause minor pain in prying off the cover.)
Safe to say, ebay is notorious for people selling perfectly good LCDs, but just too lazy to replace those backlight inverters. My Inspiron 8100 (now a 8150 50/50 8100/8200 parts) I have had to replace the inverter 3 times. first two inverters were used, and cost only 10 bucks each. Then finally I bought a new inverter for $35. Problem solved.
Same goes for desktop LCDs, they are not as hard to fix compared to your notebook LCDs because they don't have to be as compact as notebooks screens. The catch usually is they solder the inverter connectors for desktop LCDs. Nothing a regular soldering iron can't fix.
The problem with all of these DIY instructions are many arn't worded well (or poorly worded/thought out instructions), so most of the time I spend the extra hour or so touch and feeling around on the bezel or stress points or whatever you want to call them.
As for warrantys go, yup, by the time the backlight is dying on you, or already DOA on you, the warranty either doesn't cover the LCD replacement or just out. Voiding is not really a problem, because I encounter one Dell Latitude that was still in warranty. There usually isn't a notification sticker of tampering in place on the inside of these displays, so fixing a in warranty lcd, or attempting to fix, really wont void it. But don't take my word for it. Go read a book!
