    I reckon the basic on the Dragon/TRS-80 came second to the BBC Model 2. It had subroutines and was written by Microsoft, I believe. But don't hold that against it.

    Much as I like open source software and all, it's a shame that Stallman decided that the ends justifies the means and has reached out to oppressive regimes to push his free software agenda.

    And I realise you're that this will be a case of Godwin's law, but would he have pushed free software to Nazi Germany? And yes, I realise this is very hypothetical.

    I agree. Works very easily and smoothly. Once you set up the templates, it's pretty much idiot proof.

    Er, except weapons of mass destruction were found (nerve gas shell used in attempted bomb - ring any bells?) as well as evidence of chemical and biological weapons. Stockpiles of chemical weapons weren't found, that's all.

    Just a small point - DDT wasn't found to be more dangerous than it was worth. Due to it's global ban, millions more people in the third world die of malaria than were ever at risk from DDT. You need a better example.

    That's not true at all. The world is much more at risk from a Dalek invasion than it ever was in the 70's, due to the various ramps and lifts installed for people in wheelchairs. It's political correctness gone mad.

    Heston Blumenthal, the improbably named chef of the two-Michelin-star rated Fat Duck restaurant in Bray, England. He has a show on the Discovery Channel in the UK called Kitchen Chemistry where he discusses "the science behind cooking and how it affects the way that we perceive taste and flavour."

    I've only eaten at his brasserie, but the food was superb. This chap knows what he's doing.
