The Starwars program WAS a good idea. It was the threat of this, plus continued spending on defence, that convinced Gorbachev that Russia could never afford to "win" the Cold War and encouraged him to start Glasnost etc.
Football Hooligans in the UK are already doing it.

This may be slightly off-topic, but I've just come back from a holiday in Egypt, and it really is a fantastic place to visit. The locals were all very friendly and the weather was fantastic (if you like sunshine). The ancient monuments are awe-inspiring (one of the few times when that adjective is literally true). Also food, even in a good hotel is very very cheap.
On the technology side - there were quite a few internet cafes, and all the guides we dealt with had private hotmail addresses. But then 20 minutes out of central Cairo and you see people living in mud brick houses, and riding donkeys everywhere.
We met some American tourists, who told us they were accompanied everywhere by armed guards. I think this is more to reassure them than anything else.

In the UK merchants offer this for free. That's because handling cash and transporting it to banks is an inconvenience and a cost. If they can swap electronic money for physical money, it lowers their banking costs.
I agree. Don't expect for your next promotion opportunity to be the coolest project where everyone loves you. Mainly because a) they don't exist and b) people leaving due to problem projects is one of things that opens up routes into advancement.
I'd say take it, but if you're worried about your ability to cope stress up front that you may need extra help at first.
And to be honest, you'll learn far more from a difficult project than you ever will from an easy one.
I didn't know Prada did these. I know in all their items you get a kind of credit-card sized piece of plastic in a little envelope, but thought this was more to prevent counterfeiting.
IHNRTA (I have not read the article) but I thought the main point of XBoxs was being able to use commodity PC hardware? I thought this also made it relatively straightforward for them to port XBox PC. If this changes that won't they stand to lose even more money?
"You are not connected to the internet. Please take the appropriate steps and try again." Er, yes I am you pile of cak. Now where am I going to find 35 year old computer experts that live with their parents?

Which reminds me of my new money-spinning idea ( © Me on Slashdot) - a cross between fight club and Gaydar. People sign a disclaimer, and can then contact people who match their profile but instead of doing something rude with them they get to fight each other. As it's all among consenting adults, I'm sure it would be legal....
