i find myself doing this all the time at work now, and it's embarrassing. I leave entire words out of emails, IMs, etc. I never used to do that. I must be getting old.

Many times, I'll leave out a negating word, like "not", causing me to communicate the wrong idea.

I used to take ephedrine by the truckload until the government basically pulled it off gas station shelves and started tracking purchases of it at pharmacies despite the fact that it is OTC. It pisses me off because I was told that "only methamphetamine cooks buy ephedrine" by local pharmacists, which I know is completely untrue.

After having read this article, I'm unclear as to why these drugs are "ok" with law enforcement, but my use of ephedrine is not.

US prosecutors can get you for anything they want - the DOJ will just come up with a new interpretation of some overly broad "national security" measure and probably find a way to justify secret enforcement of it... and in the US, the minimum penalty will be 60 years in prison, while the rest of the world will consider it punishable by community service.

That's how it is in the US now that the "law and order" types have taken over. Everything is a fucking crime and carries a heavy jail sentence.
