You shouldn't have expected much more then a maze of twisty little passages all a like. iD games are like that. You SHOULD have been excited about was the new engine which will be adopted by many developers thus raising the bar.
I didn't know either but luckily it was answered by Hank on Osnews.com
change the law - it is a disincentive
Guys stop missing the big picture on the law. Picture it, I'm a millionaire (the name is Joey Bucks) who just made another $750,000 in a stock market transaction. I donate that stock, and thus the capital gains, to my favorite tax free company named "Joey Bucks' Beach Improvement Fund" who's sole purpose is to beautify the wretched Hamptons, Long Island shoreline. Are we getting the picture? The 30% is there to ensure that the ridiculously rich aren't creating phantom tax shelters to stash their millions or billions of dollars.
So they have someone to squeeze. Anti piracy associations are less likely to go after individuals since it probably costs more money to prosecute them then what they gain from a lawsuit. Unless they want to make an example out of them(RIAA). Going after major comapanies means you get a bigger meatier target who has deeper pockets.
Thanks for all the replies. I had the impression that many games where built as multi threaded apps already. If this is the case how will the upcoming multicore processors affect gaming?
Why aren't there more quad/dual processor motherboards built with gamers in mind? It seemed like an inevitable choice for the must-have-it gamer? There is a big enough market that there are 500usd graphic cards and 700 usd processors. It be nifty if this sort of thing had become mainstream:D
AMD all the way. Intel is alive just because of Dell (among others) and a large reserve of cash. They cost more, do less, and heat your bedroom to boot. But it has 'Intel Inside', so I guess it must count for somethin
I don't see this as true. To the people that read reviews it might seem obvious that AMD is currently in the especially for gaming benchmarks, but people will still buy intel because
1.they heard amd runs really hot
2.Wtf is amd?
3.Intel has way higher mhz and a bigger fsb it can't be wrong.
So i don't think intel is just relying on Dell sales.
it's not about the neurons conciousness but its perception of reality. its stimuli. someone gave an example about squirrels. neither are concious and both just react to its environments but one of these environments aren't real. a hypothetical situation would be putting the squirrel in simulated environment. would it go about its business as usual?
I think they're trying to hire programmers bit by bit to built an uber programmer...

not really to troll, but is there an official distributed package management? afaik it seems pretty segregated now doesn't it
Imagine the linux cluster you'd need ...
only 3 people will be tuning in? I've had some problems explaining what ogg is to friends let alone expect them to listen to a streaming broadcast.
Then it wouldn't be cheap. Everyone likes cheap. I think manufacturers like them too since you can't write over the media.

1.Check for pirated software 2.Offer cheaper software 3.Go to 1 4.Profit! Damn my programming is bad.
Seems we're getting more porn related stories. Thats a good thing if you're in doubt.
