I'm not a huge fan of flash, but it does have it's uses. It does work for quite a few platforms and it abstracts the viewer from having to download appropriate codecs that an uploader might have used. It's alot simpler than telling a less computer savy person to download and install the necessary codecs. Also the benefits you mentioned about downloading this mpeg and burning could be turned into a hunt for proper codecs and approriate software to convert, a benefit that only us techies might appreciate.
I recently installed a debian using a netinst disc. Took me couple of hours to grab everything i needed online. Granted I know a little more than joe sixpack but that's the point. I don't think joe sixpack made up a large majority of the debian user base so it couldn't really have been linspire that "had them on the ropes". If debian users did depart it would probably be to some other more techy based distro:).
I originally signed up for IInet back a couple of years ago when they offered an unlimited download package. Shortly thereafter the iinet servers broke under the combined strain from users everywhere and they had to revert to shaped bandwidth every night iirc. Sure 8mgb sounds like a great deal but they(isps) can find other ways to limit you.
A museum and a monument can only be appreciated by the people on earth. A dead rock floating through space can be appreciated by inhabitants of alien planets in the vicinity of Betelgeuse.

My best memory of this isn't some new fangled game but of Metal Gear solid 1 on the ps1. The cut scenes didn't have the greatest graphics but it was rendered by the game engine(i think) and most importantly it was nice to watch. It actually served a purpose of moving the game forward.

But what about the rules? what if someone made all the robots 8 feet tall and weighed 800 pounds? Who would sliding tackle that? What if they made an 8 armed goal keeper? what if THEY sliding tackled YOU?
That's probably where we all started. Some of us eventually moved to do something productive with the computer. I haven't! Ooh, that and that silly programming turtle. You could program the turtle to draw pictures on the screen. It made me feel leet:)

That means that even with an extra six months of design time, the initial PS3 games may be worse.
Doesn't mean the games will be less fun

I feel bad taking money, so people sometimes offer me wine. It's good because then I can get a varied collection and test out different bottles.
None of you have mentioned futurama! How dare you!!!
Isn't it a problem explaining to them what their seeing? A person who was born blind won't understand what they're seeing right?

He could have also just discreetly mailed the publishers of the software informing them.
"Wang Carpets"
Thats a typo right?RIGHT?
What about if you wrote a text editor and I took that code and just "expanded" on it to make my own text editor.
Because they informed you about the problem and what to do about it?
which happens to be really stinking tasty!
Where's O ? The one where he dies from heart failure from eating all that pizza.
