Anything to keep the AMD running smooth is a damn good thing in my book. I use the AMD Athlon processor and in several different ways to me, it outclasses and outmatches any Pentium processor. I'm sure that statement is very arguable, but I feel that AMD processors, even though louder, have a lot more power to them. Even if they burn out faster than an Intel processor, it's just good to know that for that shorter of a time it was running, it did it's best to give me the best experience.
I don't hate Intel or any of their processors, as all of my friends use them, but I use the computer for a lot more than just programming, chatting, and downloading -- I'm a hardcore gamer also. If my claim can be proven wrong with technical details, I'd love to hear it. I'm all ears.
I think it's important that MAC OS X users learn to use the UNIX command line. Even if they don't like it, they need to respect it. If it wasn't for OS X being powered by UNIX, it would not be anywhere near as stable as it is right now. I'm not "dissing" OS X, because I use it and love it, but any user shouldn't be without the knowledge required to run the UNIX command line.
Essentially, anyone that uses MAC OS X (if they don't already) will see the power of BSD and UNIX and general.. and will maybe move their PCs (unless they have MAC only) from Windows to a variation of UNIX, such as BSD or Linux.
I use Linux. Linux is Open Source. Linux is free. To pay for something that is free just goes to show how bad our economy really is... It's not Open-Source that is making it bad, but what I just said.
I won't pay a damn cent. They can sue me if they choose to... and if they win, I still won't pay anything. I'll run and hide in the confines of my Linux box.
I think a better idea would be for them to only allow that to people who have been convicted of a DUI before. I'm sure insurance can cover the cost of the installation.
It will certainly shave off about 30 minutes at band practice... but is it worth it? I'm sure that it was programmed by some of the best and fastest guitar-tuners in the world's ideas... but could it outdo someone who has a lot of experience playing guitars?
Put it like this; compare it to automatic cars. Sure, they can speed -- they accelerate pretty quickly also, but can they compare to manual vehicles in the time of racing? Of course not. Because manual transmission gives the person total control of shifting gears -- he knows just when to shift and ride the gears out (if he's good). Now doesn't that seem like a skill an experienced guitar player might have over a guitar that tunes itself?
As that old saying goes... a computer only knows what we tell it to. But what happens if we learn something new? It's still thoughtless...
I think the fate of the music industry doesn't lie within how quick the RIAA can sue and pad their pockets, but for which bands truly love music enough to just let it go. I'm sure I'll get a lot of negative comments for this, but if the music industry did go down... do you think we would still see as much rap as we do now? Of course not -- it's all about the benjamins, remember?
Still; the rock genre has been here longer than any other music genre.. and I believe that in the end, it will outlast everyone else. Not because there are more "sub genres" within it, but because the majority of the artists in this group care more about music than getting paid. Sure, making money is the key to their success... but really.. don't they make enough as it is? They can cut down on a few condos and expensive cars for awhile...
Now it is only a matter of time before the black hole gets bored and moves down to try to take over planets... Martians I tell you!
Seriously though, I find it interesting how we discover more and more information about space...hopefully we can confirm one day if there really is life outside Earth.
Without GPL, it can't be. In real life, when things are free -- it belongs to us and no one else. Take for example, you take one of those free pens from the Doctor's office. If we open the pen up, replace the ink stim, break the pen, blow it up, or just give it away, the doctor's office cannot do a damn thing about it because it is not theirs -- they are giving it away to the public.
Sure, we can still get Apache for free... but what happens when we want to make a few modifications and such? We get canned.
I personally think that Sun Microsystems could space letting Java go Open-Source -- they already make enough money from their hardware, training, and Solaris to really notice a decline in anyone's pay check.
I've heard that Yahoo helped Google a pretty good but, and I've heard that Google did it all on their own. Nonetheless, Google is #1 -- not Yahoo.
Another reason is that they were probably not getting noticed that they are even apart of Google; I didn't know until pretty recently that they were. Maybe not even Google knows they were? o_O
Yahoo: "Yeah, we're leaving."
Google: "Who the fuck are you?"
No one knows.
Even though it is in 2nd place, deep down, I feel that the Nintendo GameCube is in first place.
What other gaming company has focused more on games than anything else and succeeded as much as Nintendo has? Despite how much "trash talk" can come out of one fan boy's mouth about loving the XBOX and hating the GameCube, I think we all understand now where each one stands.
The XBOX is a big powerhouse console. Sure, it has power, great graphics, and can be modded easier than any other console... but can it compare to Nintendo? Nope. Can Microsoft compare to Nintendo's genius game design techniques? Hell no.
Haha, that's going to suck when you reformat and try to boot up into your favorite Linux distro with a DVD that your computer cannot read.
I think he did a great thing, but for what it's wroth, I prefer www.linuxiso.org.
SCO can bring it on. I have a network of computers all running Linux and an Anti-SCO shirt on! I wonder if the fine is $700*my network or just $700? Eh! What am I saying.. they aren't getting any money from me.
I think this just insures the fact that Google.com is the leading online search engine. Even though they didn't make the sites themselves, this still greatly helps in the enlargement of the internet.
I've never even been to Disney World, but I can honestly say that the two not getting together twims down on the monopolies and huge companies we have walking around dominating.

Say NO to SCO.

I can fold up into a cracker.
Too bad I can't read German.
Now it's only going to be a matter of time before I can download porn to my brain. ^_^ Ha, just playing.
My favorite part:
Where that idiot made a fool of himself by talking about Lucas not making any good Star Wars movies.
Someone needs a new news poster to post Star Wars news. o_O
KaZaA isn't a company -- Sharmen Networks is and I'm pretty sure they are one of the main ones targeted.
As far as getting rid of the source code... does it matter as long as it's not on my computer? ^_^
I feel a slight bit of pity for Microsoft though. Well, no I don't.
Meh.
I think a better idea would be for them to only allow that to people who have been convicted of a DUI before. I'm sure insurance can cover the cost of the installation.
Haha, I feel you. I have some real attachments to some of my programs...
Now if only I could make my binary girlfriend grow hair... =/

Beer's not free. ;)

I think it might be easier for SCO to just create a nuclear warhead and blow up the USA. That's the only way they will actually win anything...

RedHat was good.. but I guess Fedora is better. Personally I enjoy Debian, SuSE, and Mandrake. And of course, Slackware. =)
SCO Linux? You mean Unix-Ware? Haha.
Haha.
