Personally, I think the Nintendo DS will out perform the PSP even if the two were released at the same date (or even if the PSP was released a few months before). Nonetheless, the Nintendo DS won't have to get delayed because of a lack of games, because Nintendo is all about it's gaming lineup.

While Sony is wondering "Damn. How the hell are we going to get GTA3 on this handheld...??" Nintendo is off laughing at them while far in the lead.

The reason main Nintendo is doing as good as they are is because of the games -- not the system specs of their consoles. Catch them if you can Sony, Nintendo can only release more games, downshift, and take off. They have been doing this for years and will continue to do it.

The GBA's graphics is only getting better over time... as I've seen lately by playing Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town... they are starting to actually stand atop the original 16-bit games in the SNES and Genesis.

I for one am a hardcore gamer so graphics do not matter. Nonetheless, for what it's worth, the GBA's graphics are AWESOME! Compared to XBOX though? Of course not... but don't be a fanboy.

  8. That's a lot of DVDs on Suggestions for a DVD Video on Demand System? · · Score: 2, Informative

Damn. That's a lot of movies. I don't see anything wrong with watching them on a Plasma screen though. Plasma TVs, with their 16 by 9 HDTV ratio are great for watching high-quality DVDs on. As long as everything is the best quality you can possibly find, it works out.

As far as backing up some DVDs.. it's going to take a lot of money if you want to do it quickly. I hear they sell Terabyte harddrives for $1300 now (not sure who sells them) -- you could start by ripping and decrypting them to the harddrive... then either splitting them into two parts and burning on seperate disks or compress it as much as possible (lessening the quality horribly; defeating the purpose of the DVD) and burn to a single DVD. I'm saying this because it gets it ready for the user to download (2 parts would be faster than one big part). Also, it'll save you a lot of space on your server.

None the less, this is going to take a lot of time. Have fun!

TAYLOR: And the other place we see it is high-performance computing, scientific computing clusters that have lots and lots of servers.

Sounds a lot to me like Microsoft is saying that the Windows server is only directed small/medium businesses and not towards a large business with a lot of servers. Admitting defeat a little early, eh?

TAYLOR: Just because you have more people looking at the code does not guarantee a level of quality, because those people might not be the most-qualified people to do code review.

Wouldn't you think that there are more "qualified" coders in the world total than there are working at Microsoft? Oh sure, Microsoft probably has a great number of programmers that are "highly-qualified" but does that mean they are the only ones in the world with enough experience to truly understand code review? Of course not. I bet if you took all of the most experienced coders from both sides and added them up, you'd see how much bigger the world is than Microsoft.

TAYLOR: As a channel partner, you've got to have two questions: Do you ride Microsoft's R&D wave, or do you ride this Red Hat Linux wave, knowing there's going to be some potential conflict with a vendor?

At least if I ride the Red Hat Linux wave, I won't fall off.

TAYLOR: IBM and Novell have made acquisitions to try and get to an integrated platform that provides a level of functionality.

Microsoft is a monopoly though and that you can't disagree. I mean for God's sakes... they saw how companies were making quick cash selling music for 99 cents per song and decided to input that into their trusty Windows Media Player. Can they just not get enough money?

I think Bill Gates should just go ahead and buy the damn government... it'll save him some trouble in the long run.. heh.

If I took a sample of one of those AOL disks and promoted my CD selling business... I doubt I could get in trouble as long as AOL made money from the CDs I sold that are theres.
