Install it, put in on the internet write a program that does nothing put FTP files to itself for say 90 days straight then remove it from the internet, when they ask, say I dont use it for the internet I use it for a door stop...
I know where all 26 that are registered in my small town live. My daughter knows what all 26 look like. She has seen 7 of them and knows to stay away from them.
This is one case where part of the punishment (national registry) fits the crime. And as in 99.9% of all criminal cases, its a matter of public record.
Some 14 year old gets pissed at his school so he sneaks into the deans office and copies an illegal copy of Office to the server. BAM the entire school district looses all IT equipment and are slammed into the stone age...
I for one have seen the impact they make. I work Mounted Search and Rescue, (horse back) and have hauled their equipment to the tops of mountains for them so they can set up comms for the area.
I have also had HAM's make a radio call to another state just to make an emergency phone call. So its real good seeing this kind of press for them.
I built a vista pc for fun, let it sit for 90 days of the network, moved the mouse and low and behold it was a brick, the os had been disabled since it could not call home.
Just set the phone down and let the recording play. It ties up their available ports on the dialer. Then call the phone company, tell them you think someone just tried to cram you long distance carrier, and you want to make sure it does not change. Also call your power provider, cell provider, and do the same thing.
Or better yet, plug a fax machine into the line. when you hear the recording press send. If they are using a predictive dialer in either predictive, or proactive mode it will flag the number as a data line and after x number of calls the dialer will flag the number as a DNC-D (do not call - data)
(Yes I am on a contract for a call center, no we don't sell anything, they do surveys)
Lets see, If I where in a dorm room... I would set up my own router with an name like $*@&_YOU Then serve private IP to a firewall, then another to a wireless router Then server the floor wireless.
Local concert here in Houston. Tickets went on sale at Midnight for $23, $45, and $75 per ticket
13,500 tickets total available. 3,500 set aside for the fan club
10,000 for general resale
at 12:10 am the concert was sold out.
Only 8 people that camped out where able to get tickets
The scalpers had all of the tickets.
The cheapest ticket for a single seat was $236.00 If you wanted two next to each other they where $285 each If you wanted 4 (which is what I wanted) they where $554.00 each
I was online and attempting to get them by 12:30 am the day they went on sale.
needless to say I could not justify $2200 for tickets to a concert.
Now, IMHO they should at least regulate the price. Say no more than twice the street price for the scalpers.
I had a 3 year extended service contract on it and 2 months into it the keyboard failed.
I called HP and they said that since I had Linux on it they would void the contract.
Here is what I did.
1. Took them to small claims court. 2. Sued for the cost of the contract, cost of the machine, and cost of the repair. 3. Had the court order their records, contracts, and documents showing the "Voided" contract 4. With nothing in the EULA stating I had to stay with M$ I was able to prove an "Illegal Tie-In" 5. Then the fun started...
The Judge found in my favor. Ordered HP to reimburse me for the machine, contract, and to repair the machine at their cost.
I made an image of the laptops hard drive and sent it to HP UPS paid by HP 3 weeks later I got it back. They replaced the keyboard, and removed the M$ COA and reloaded the hard drive with XP.
Yes they made me out of license.
I went back to the judge and he made HP provide the work orders on the machine. The order showed to replace the KB and the HD and to remove the COA
The judge then ordered a bench warrant for the arrest of the HP tech and manager for contempt of court.
They where notified by mail of the warrant and 2 weeks later I received a call from the court They had a tech from HP that was going to meet me at the court to solve the issue.
I received a new COA A new set of recovery disks A second Hard drive with XP preloaded on it He reloaded the backup image from my DVD's then to the surprise of me handed me a box with a new laptop in it with no COA and no OS.
along with a check for the reimbursement of my expenses.
Last but not least, the judge issued an injunction against HP from doing this again.
Now the injunction is only good for my county but I figure that HP's screwup cost them at least 20K in costs, and time
So, go after them and make them prove that your service contract is voided by changing the OS. And make them prove that Gentoo broke the hinge.

So congress is taking a civil violation and turning it into a judicial violation.
I would not recognize the authority of the judicial branch to enforce civil violations.

I can't wait for the documentary on it. I would love to see the images of it.
I wonder what color it is.
What/Who did it eat last.
Was it scaly or flesh.
Was its hide like that of a cow or thin like that of a lizard
Who gets the first Dino-Skin Boots?
All of the things that make for a good documentary.

It's called life, and your mommy and daddy made it for you.

Don't just put them in front of a video game.

If no Batt the trace out the capacitor, it should be next to the power supply

Where do the extents of a 'public performance' end?
-----------------------
I think the correct question should be;
What constitutes a public performance?
Does it begin when one or more can hear my radio?
Does it begin when I pass some shmoe with his Iputz on so loud
his teeth rattle and everyone can hear his music?
Or when I charge a customer to come to my Bar and have the local
radio station on?

I got rid of my copper 4 years ago, along with Verison
All I have is my cell. I actually took the interface off my house and
handed it to a tech a few weeks ago. He thought I was nuts.
I told him I did not need it and it was in the way.
No I don't need copper, and I am regular enough to not need fiber...
ohh crud, I forgot what I was going to say
I thought there was a movie called Kill Bill...
Sounds like sound budgeting to me.
I write down prices of Item I want to buy all the time so I can budget for them
