  1. Waste of Money on simPC - Your Grandparents' New Computer? · · Score: 1

I can get a Wally-world PC w/Linux pre-installed for under $300, and monitors for less than $100. Add dialup service for 8/month, and that offer is not all that great.

  2. What People Miss on The Eye: Evolution versus Creationism · · Score: 1

Is that the two theories are not really opposing theories. Taking a less strict interpretation of the 'God created... in 7 days', the 'days' can mean almost any passage of time. God could have 'created' present-day man by developing them from a different 'man' that to God seemed like no time but was eons to the species. Same with other species evolution. God can have created one thing and allowed it to morph into something else.

After all, if God worked in actual days, wouldn't He be awful bored by now?

One of the big objections in Japan to the Xbox is the size - especially the Duke controllers (until the S controller came out). They want something tiny or thin. The cultural distain for our products can be overcome if we make something that looks Japanese in form.

The large HD device is commendable for portability, but I would also like to see cars retain at least a CD-player. It is also time to get the better-than-CD audio formats into mass-production and use. A DVD-Audio/MP3/Sat/Radio auto system would be ideal.

You are not wrong that the barriers are high. If there were any subsidies needed, I would (controversially) pay for them by raising the taxes on pure gasoline. I know people are wierded out on the GMing of plants, but if these GM crops were fuel only, public consumption would not be an issue.

  24. Re:It's a good thing on Genetically-Modified Everything · · Score: 1

That is incorrect. GM vehicles have been produced with the correct fuel system lines and gaskets, and E85 (85% alcohol) works fine in them. Few other builders followed suit, but too bad. Force them! And there is a difference between current production and possible production. Build enough 'still' refineries and capacity increases. We pay farmers to not grow crops due to overproduction. Now it's time for the market to pay them.

You are correct it will not be promoted. That is being saved for the fuel cell farce that will use fossil fuels to make the hydrogen.

  25. It's a good thing on Genetically-Modified Everything · · Score: 4, Insightful

GM plants can be VERY beneficial if modified correctly. This crop can be used as a fuel source, replacing oil-based gasoline. Get the yield high enough my GM'ing, and it becomes a great replacement - less pollution, more energy independence on any country capable of producing crops, and an industry that may finally get agriculture off the government dime.
