One does not surrender the right to complain just because he/she didn't vote. No one loses rights, it's just that your opinion is not as meaningful, since you seem apathetic to the outcome in the first place.
Some people vote local and skip the prez. vote for your reason. They 'voted' none of the above (NOTA).
Some people (where allowed), write in their own candidate. Make it absurd enough, people get the point.
    Some people 'vote the loser'.
The thing is if you do not even go to vote, any bitching you do means less, IMO.
There is a sizable group of voters that are NOTA.
If this group were to congeal and pick a common loser, a third party could be started. Perot almost had this, before he went nuts.

In conclusion, show up and vote something.

If someone tried to deliberately hit a building the flauto (FLying AUTOmobile) would slow and land when the speed got too low. To avoid the flauto-hackers, unique IDs would have to be broadcast or the flauto-cops would come (or anti-flauto weapons shoot them down).

  13. Let's Talk About X Baby on The Power of X · · Score: 4, Insightful

The supposed 'modularization' that is to take place in future 'X' releases sounds promising - release enough to work (or 'major' fixes) and then extremely long development cycles can be diminished.

The one caveat is to not micro-modularize; do not release things for install/upgrade that cannot stand on their own (i.e. - limited functionality vs. not executable).

I would like to see 'X' go on a diet, though (if possible).

  14. Re:Burden of proof on RIAA Sues More Music Lovers · · Score: 1

Sadly, it is illegal to download even in this scenario, according to the RIAA. You could circumvent by having a 'buddy' lend you his CD and you make a backup (which can be claimed as a b/u of your original before it was damaged). Still illegal but untraceable unless your buddy snitches.
The RIAA, however, even wants to outlaw the currently legal backup scenario (copy yours 4 b/u).
If you have the time and patience, route a set of jacks to your PC from your home stereo and burn your vinyl onto your HD. There are several programs that will re-track the audio stream into separate songs - some even have filters to improve the quality. I have a small (50) LP collection and about 12 will never be CD's (2 are from IA radio stations in the 80s).
