My grammar school was doing this sort of thing back in the 80s -- a lot of our folders and notebooks had local business ads printed all over them. I'm sure they'd have sold space on the back of test papers if they had the technology at the time . . .
The landline companies' biggest threat isn't not the cable company, it's the wireless cell phone company. If they can add DSL as a bonus feature on your landline, that gives them an edge. There's no reason the price shouldn't continue to drop.
What could it be that's causing little Johhny to behave poorly? Could it be the crippling lack of funding for our public schools? Or is it the video games?
Indeed, as a former programmer, I went to film school, and am now a TV Producer. Being a programmer is a hard, isolating job, and when you get older, you might want to switch over to something more traditional . . .
Google is still young. Eventually the business types, who have spent their lives studying how to manipulate people, will slowly take control from the folks who have spent their lives studying how to manipulate computers.
But usually programmers cannot run companies. You might find an executive who has done some programming in the past, but the average career programmer hasn't the skills, experience, or most importantly, the personality required to take on the responsibility of employing the diverse staff that any growing business will inevitably accumulate.
Unless you have a product that you can live off of without hiring a staff, you'd probably be better off sticking to a role you can fill competently.
100 hours of non-rechargable battery life?? That's like two week's worth of use! How many times do you think a user is going to bother changing the battery before giving up and just using them like any other shoe?
...then they would have completely owned their own software rather than being locked into the vendor relationship.
What interest does the New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority have in owning software?? Their concern is Roads and Traffic. That's why they chose a vendor who would deliver a reliable product, letting them spend their time focusing on Road and Traffic issues, not on Information Technology. Ownership of anything is a burden.
Not everyone is as enamored with owning software as you are!:)
Logline: When a beautiful but emotionally distant planet crosses through the telescopic field of a handsome but socially awkward astronomer, they discover that a meaningful relationship can only come from years of hard work aligning graph paper.
Brief: Although the world that the author has created is rich and compelling, the story arc falls flat in the third act.
I was a VG developer for many years, and I spent a great deal of time studying the gender imbalance. I concluded that it's neither the content (immature) nor the context (locker room) of video games that turns most women off of them, it's the cultural stigma.
Simply put, little boys are taught from birth that playing games is a legitimate use of your time, as they help develop practical skills. But girls are generally taught that games only distract you from achieving more practical goals.
Earthsea has a larger potential audience than Dr. Who will ever have, no matter where it's broadcast! Earthsea appeals to more women and non-propellerheads, who, taken together, do make up the majority of the population.
I loved Riverworld -- I think it's a solid foundation for a whole series, not just a mini-series! Hopefully the right people will get together to make it happen. These things take time.
Dozens are planned, but it's rare that something is announced like this and then canceled. Earthsea has a lot of momentum behind it at this point. AFAIK Myst is no longer in development at SciFi.

Yes I've used all kinds of third-party multi-button input devices with macs, they've always worked flawlessly.
