For those of you who may not believe Cayenne's claim, imagine this hypothetical scenario: Kavanaugh was not accused of raping a woman. He was accused of raping a child. The exact same level of evidence was available.

    What would have happened?

It is not Microsoft's fault that no computer maker offers a Linux-ready machine, at least not that I've heard rumors of.

Google, on the other hand, specifically tells companies to install this, this and this if they want access to the main feature of the 'free' OS.

  5. Proactively looking for flaws in software is illegal, unfortunately.

Except the trophies, achievements or whatever you choose to call it aren't meaningless to the individual player. In many cases there may be a quick association to the moment of getting especially the rarer and harder achievements, which is no different than looking through a photo album. Would you call photo albums meaningless? To the person involved with the photos, I mean, not the world at large.

  7. My bad, I somehow managed to leave out 'potentially'.

  8. We recently had an article that Windows 10 passed the 700 million install mark.

700,000,000 installations. 0.01% of that is 'only' 70,000 installs that lost data.

Doesn't fill me with confidence, especially after seeing the reason. It's not like hard drive space is costly these days, Windows should NOT take the initiative to do some spring cleaning without clear and explicit permission.

  11. Perhaps the problem is that I DON'T work for Google or that I don't use the search features in such a way, but the difference in how quotation marks and the plus sign are used just don't make sense to me. Hudsucker in the other line of discussion born from my first post does come up with a reasonable use case (wanting "white hat" OR "penetration test", but not necessarily both on the same page and definitely not "hat test"), but I rarely find myself looking for things with multiple names like that.

  12. I'm trying to come up with a hypothetical use case scenario of, "I want this phrase exactly like this or not at all!" and I just ... when would you DO that?

Your solution is quickly made far more difficult by different focal points and angles throughout the theater. Also obstruction by the guy behind you stretching his arms because he's been sitting still for too long.

  18. Also, subtitles in theatres aren't exactly a new thing, though I mostly recall seeing them in operas. There it makes more sense, given they are less commonly translated into local languages, and timing precision is less important.

I call it an investment if I give money in the HOPE that I will get something out of it that I want - be that planting carrots in my back yard or financing the production of a game that sounds like it might turn out interesting. In the end I HOPE to have carrots or a game I'll like, but there is NO guarantee.
