You seem to be confusing Universal and Warner Brothers. WB ended the format war when they switched from being format-neutral to Blu-ray exclusive. If anything, this demonstrates the opposite of what you are trying to suggest
They can also get in trouble for accepting a card that reads "Check ID" instead of a valid signature. The merchant agreement stipulates that in these cases the cashier must check ID and have the customer sign the card in their presence. If the customer won't agree to this, the transaction should be refused.

Last I read on the official blog (http://braid-game.com/news/), the Windows version is expected in October, with a Linux version following at some later date
Do they really? From what I was able to tell, it's not specified as reCAPTCHA anywhere in the window; having looked at the reCAPTCHA site from a development side I could swear that I read that you needed to give credit if developing a custom style for it. Either I'm remembering wrong, they've got a deal, or FB is undergoing one of the stupidest TOS violations ever.
They do give attribution to reCAPTCHA. You have to click on "What's this?"

So basically he'll vote for a bill that gives telecom amnesty and hasn't done anything to date to actually strip the immunity except for a vague promise. And you still say he hasn't changed his position?
Yes, because he has not said or done anything in support of telecom amnesty. Disappointing people by not taking an active role in the fight is not the same as supporting something.
It is widely known that slashdot summaries are completely inaccurate. As Slashdot previously reported, Obama has not switched his position to be in favor of telecom amnesty. He has said he will try to have that provision stripped from the compromise bill. Now don't get me wrong, he has taken a weak position and plans to vote for the (bad) bill even if they aren't able to have the provision removed, but that doesn't make the summary any less bullshit.
How dare they introduce a better product so soon after the original was released. What about the dozens of early adopters that spent good money on the first generation Zune. I hope MS will give some sort of trade in to compensate those that were conned into buying the original, inferior, zune. It has not even been a year!
Frankly I think we are lucky that they did not change the DRM and force everyone to buy new tracks for the new player.
They are updating the original Zune firmware to support all of the features in the new model.
If so many states now oppose Real ID, how is it that it passed into law in the first place? The house passed it 261-161 and in the Senate was attached to a war funding and tsunami relief bill which of course passed 100-0.
Each makes available to potential creditors every purchase you've ever made Completely false, have you ever seen a credit report? They basically show available credit vs credit used for each account as well as the status of the account and any delinquencies. Theres maybe 10 fields total for each account. Nothing even close to a list of purchases.
If you read the summary, the court hasn't ruled whether or not it is illegal to discriminate against roommates on these grounds. They are only saying that Roommates.com doesn't qualify as a common carrier because they force people to enter the fields.
As usual, the title Zonk has chosen for this post ("Kaleidescape Triumphant in Court Case, DVD Ripping Ruled Legal") directly contradicts the actual article:
Because of this ruling, the Judge did not have to get into copyright issues, so the Kaleidescape ruling has no copyright implications. It is not a statement on the legality of ripping DVDs.
Any law created by congress trumps state law.
Congress has the right to pass laws according to the Constitution. Those laws that Congress and the Constitution do not forbid are granted to the states.
The law is not unconstitutional. It is correct that the Federal Government can't force Real ID on the states, and the law does not do so. The law witholds Highway funds from states that choose not to enact it.
Yes, the federal government is using extortion to enact laws that they have no business enacting but its not uncommon and I'm sure the Supreme Court has upheld the practice in the past.
An unconstitutional Law passed by Congress does not trump a State Law, and Congress is certainly capable of passing unconstitutional Laws. (Choose your own favorite example.)
The Supreme Court has Jurisdiction over Controversies between the United States and a State; it would ultimately determine whether the Federal Law was constitutional and thus trump the State Law, or whether it was unconstitutional and thus completely invalid.
Where in the constitution is the federal government given the power to regulate gambling?
Oh, that's right, *nowhere*!
The government's job is not to protect us from ourselves. Period. The Federal Government doesn't have the power to regulate gambling. That is exactly why they cannot abide by the WTO's demand to outlaw domestic gambling.
Sony did not buy XFire. XFire was purchased some time ago by Viacom/MTV
You are probably thinking of the rumor going around pre-PS3 launch that the PS3 was going to be using XFire for its online system. It turned out that it was just one game (Untold Legends) using it
Just look to the cancellation of Halo development for Macintosh and Linux after they bought Bungie. Halo development for Macintosh was not canceled when Microsoft bought Bungie. Halo was released for the Mac in December, 2003. I don't believe a Linux version was ever being developed by Bungie.
Congress doesn't sign bills. Presidents do. You should really make an effort to learn about how US government works. The GP's point was that the bill was signed into law by President Clinton, a Democrat.
the Zune had a 10.2 percent market share in the U.S. in the 30 gigabyte category, according to the latest data...
That's fishy to me because it sounds like they mean of concurrent sales (meaning it wouldn't include people who bought 30gb iPods when Apple still made them in that size).
What that means is, of all media players sold this year that store 30GB of data that aren't iPods, the Zune has a 10% market share which, factoring in Apple's huge part of that market, is much, much smaller a percentage than it sounds like.
Triv
The latest iPod comes in 30GB and 80GB. Where are you guys getting this notion that Apple no longer makes 30GB iPods? A quick visit to apple.com will prove that untrue.
10.2% of the market, but they've sold less then 1 million players? Something don't smell right. It means that 10.2% of 30gb players sold during the reporting period were Zunes, not that 10.2% of all 30gb players are Zunes.
American Express released the smart card American Express Blue many years ago. I still have the free smart card reader they gave out with it. It was pretty worthless and not widely adopted. They probably still have chips in them, but no-one cares. I now have an RFID Citi paypass keychain which I find incredibly convenient, and I can't say I lose sleep over the security.
Since the numbers are from big box retailers only, they are pretty skewed. No online (no store.apple.com, Amazon, etc), probably not Apple's retail stores either.
This is not true. NPD tracks a number of online retailers (including Amazon.com) as well as many smaller retailers.
This is why they will not even try to release a version of Office for any platform except their own. Last I checked, Microsoft offers Office for Mac OS.

Verizon does the same thing ...
Sort of... they offer two pairs of DNS servers. One hijacks DNS errors, the other doesn't. http://netservices.verizon.net/portal/link/help/item?case=dns_assist&partner=verizon&product=fios
It isn't a surcharge, its the shipping fee. Overnight delivery used to cost upwards of $15 on games for non-Prime accounts before this change

Probably convenient that there is no 30 gigabyte iPod.
Sam Krupa Ever iPod generation since the 3rd generation launched in 2003 has included a 30 gigabyte model.

This is not true. NPD tracks a number of online retailers (including Amazon.com) as well as many smaller retailers.
Here is a report from Adobe on NPD numbers. Note: This report is about software sales, but the NPD Techworld division handles Consumer Electronics sales so the vendor list should be similar: http://www.adobe.com/macromedia/ir/macr/whitepape
The most significant issue with NPD numbers is that they do not include WalMart (NPD estimates WalMart numbers instead)
